Hourly Rate of Pay: $28.39-$30.71

DUTIES:

Assume primary responsibility as a HVAC Technician. Inspects, troubleshoots, cleans and repairs low boilers, gas and electric heating systems including forced air, air handlers, heat pumps, heat strips, steam radiators and others; disassembles and clean controls, contacts, orifices, tubes heating surfaces, filters and component parts; cuts and threads pipe; performs soldering and brazing; maintains and repairs medium and low-temperature refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including window units and components parts such as cooling towers, water circulating components, evaporators and condensers; installs and repairs walk-in freezers and coolers; installs and repairs steam and condensate returns and condensate drain lines, hot water, gas, air steam and refrigerant lines, lift fittings, valves and other piping. Clean and inspects heat exchangers and water storage tanks; calibrates, cleans, repairs or replaces electrical, pneumatic and low-voltage controls, thermostats, timers, safety controls and regulators; overhauls, installs, and repairs pumps, motors, fans, compressors, valves, air handling and distribution equipment such as unit ventilators and other equipment. Determines if repairs or modifications meet safety codes; reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams and schematics; fabricates parts; performs preventive maintenance on heating and cooling equipment. Performs such other tasks, primarily, but not exclusively, within the expertise of the classification as assigned by the Director of Operations and Security.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of Ohio Mechanical Building codes, plumbing, electrical and safety codes. Knowledge of and the ability to apply basic math concepts to compute graphics, automation, heating, and cooling loads. Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the repairs of boilers, heating, ventilating, refrigeration and air-condition systems.

Willingness to respond to emergency calls to work.

Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent required; successful completion of an approved apprenticeship program in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. Five years of professional HVAC Technician experience required. Must have valid Ohio driver's license and such other license as required by law or regulation. Possess at least five (5) years experience in commercial and residential heating, ventilation, air conditioning experience. This person must have possession of a universal type refrigerant transition and recovery certification. Must be enthusiastic, a team worker and able to follow instructions.
