JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently recruiting an field engineer interested in solving piping, small bore attachments and structure vibration problems. Vibration Engineer performs a variety of data collection, troubleshooting and problem-solving activities for piping systems, small bore attachments and structures at an LNG facility. This opportunity is for a 2/2 shift for On-site work in Kitimat, BC Canada.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Knowledge of Energy Institute AVIFF guidelines for piping systems
  • Good understanding of excitation forces in piping system including AIV, FIV, FIT, water hammer, multiphase or slug flow, cavitation, pulsations, etc.
  • Vibration data collection and analysis on piping systems, small bore attachments and structures to identify areas of concern, cause of high vibration and able to recommend solutions.
  • Experience with visual survey of piping systems to identify installation and design gaps based on best engineering practices
  • Troubleshoot vibration issues on piping systems, structures, and small bore attachment.
  • Hands on experience with acquiring vibration data using handheld analyzer like Benstone hardware and its software
  • Work independently or as part of a team, at client sites, conducting routine data collection activities, and occasionally troubleshooting vibration issues across piping system and structures
  • Interact with operations, maintenance, and inspection personnel
  • Prepare timely and accurate technical reports to professional standards
  • Implement and adhere to Wood - Vibration, Dynamics & Noise (VDN) HSSE policies and best practices at all work sites
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to speak directly to the issue and to adapt to work environment and customers' communication style
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with customers. Strong customer focus and the desire to go the extra mile

Expected:
  • Mechanical Engineer or Technologist (BSME or BSMET)
  • 2 - 5 years of job-related experience
  • Good knowledge of vibration fundamentals and interest in investigating and troubleshooting piping systems vibration problems
  • Ideally have some exposure to vibration data acquisition systems and their software, in the industry or in university vibration laboratory
  • Knowledge of Energy Institute AVIFF guidelines for piping system
  • Understanding of excitation forces in piping system
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
  • Position requires 2/2 shift work at a LNG facility in Kitimat, BC.
  • Have an interest in acoustic theory, multiphase flow, and transients.
  • Hands on experience in using handheld vibration analyzer and software e.g., Benstone Impaq Elite, etc.
  • Proficient in standard windows software and ideally have some understanding of software related to vibration data acquisition systems
  • Valid driver's license with good driving history
