Job Summary

The Exploratory Driller involves efficiently operating a track-mounted drill in a safe manner to collect core samples for geological investigations. The driller must be organized and be able to log core samples for the Quarry Development Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operating the drilling rig for auger, rock core drilling and sampling.
• A company vehicle will be provided.
• Driller must have a clean driving record.
• Perform general maintenance and repairs on drill rig and other equipment as needed to ensure safe operations.
• Extended hours may be required.
• Completes day-to-day activities of drill operations including daily/monthly machine inspections, greasing, drill logs, and replacing bits as needs.
• Attendance, punctuality, and dependability.
• Complies with company vehicle driving rules and regulations.
• Obeys and follows applicable traffic laws.
• Working knowledge of construction job-site activities.
• Makes safety programs a matter of vital concern.
• Wears PPE when required.
• Follows all safety rules, housekeeping mandates, and reports hazards and incidents.
• Reports defects, accidents, and violations.
• Follows all verbal and written directions.
• Willingness and demonstrative ability to take direction from senior and executive management.

Job Requirements and Education

• Eligible to work in the United States (i.e., U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, or work visa required)
• Complies with company vehicle driving rules and regulations.
• Travel Required.
• Ability to manage several projects at once.
• Experience in hydraulic and electrical systems a plus.
• Obeys and follows applicable traffic laws.
• Follows all safety rules, housekeeping mandates, and reports hazards and incidents.
• Reports defects, accidents, and violations.
• Follows all verbal and written directions.
• Willingness and demonstrative ability to take direction from senior and executive management.
• Participates in required meetings.
• Is a productive team member that supports the team by going where needed, assisting where needed, and maintains good working relationships (coworkers, management, administration, and customers).
• Complete and pass pre-employment testing, including a drug screen and physical.
• High school education or GED equivalent.
• Must be safety conscious, dependable, motivated and possess a positive attitude in working with others as a team.
• Extended hours may be required.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 45 lbs.
• Must read and speak English.
• Complies with all applicable safety, environment, health and waste management policies and procedures.
• Climb ladder to 8 to 10 feet to access equipment.
• Remove excess build up materials at the end of the workday using a scrapper or shovel.
• Work outdoors in all types of weather.
