Wood is recruiting for a Basra Technical Training Center Supervisor to join its Iraq business unit focusing on leading and supervising all aspects of the programs and the technical training team at the BTTC in Basra, Iraq on 4 weeks on/4 weeks off work schedule.

This role is a full-time on-site role in Basra, Iraq with travel requirement.

Job Objectives

Primary Accountabilities:
  • Help to maintain good relationships with the partner universities and all external stakeholders, acting as a positive ambassador for the BTTC.
  • Ensure the BTTC maintains accreditation of all programs delivered at the centre and in the workplace by the appropriate Awarding/Accrediting Organisations.
  • Develop and manage teaching and assessment schedules in line with the approved curriculum.
  • Ensure the BTTC implements a suitable IV and Quality Assurance system to meet Awarding. Organisation requirements and ensure that the quality of all the programs is maintained.


Key Deliverables:
  • Provide the Project Manager BTTC with Technical Training reports as required.
  • Perform Instructor teaching observations.
  • Coach, train and discipline staff when required.
  • Conduct staff appraisals as and when directed.
  • Partake actively in meetings with the clients to develop courses suited to their needs.
  • Compile weekly and monthly reports as required.
  • Deliver training as and when required.
  • Assist in identifying and sourcing suitable redundant equipment from Operating Companies for training purposes.
  • Be active in suggesting ways of continually improving the training programs.
  • Uphold the Company Quality Policies.
  • Any other duties as reasonably required by Wood management.


Working Relationships:

Internal: Project Manager - BTTC

External: Wood Al Majal management and support team and BTTC clients.

Level of Influence and Decision Making Authority:
  • High


QUALIFICATIONS

Expected:
  • Recognised international vocational assessor / verifier qualification.
  • Train-the-trainer qualification.
  • Trade and HSSE certificates.
  • Qualified Lead Internal Verifier


Knowledge, skills and experience:
  • English speaking to advanced level.
  • Advanced level knowledge to IT operating systems, such as: Windows - PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Minimum 10-years of technical vocational training experience.
  • Minimum 10-years of industry experience.
  • Experience to support the delivery of a wide range of technical vocational training programs to international standards.
  • Experience in operating machinery.

  • Be responsible for own professional development with regards to developments in teaching industry trade licenses and apply those appropriately to the Centre.
  • To work within the Company's Quality procedures.
  • To be aware of Health and Safety Regulations and uphold your responsibility to Health & Safety as an employee.
  • To be aware of actions necessary in cases of accident or fire.
  • To keep your work area clean and safe.
  • To always act as an ambassador for the Company.
