Airswift is seeking an Oversight Electrical Technologist Senior IV in Calgary, AB, to join one of our major Oil & Gas Energy clients on a 1-year contract with the possibility of being extended.

The Electrical Technologist is responsible for design or design oversight of all electrical equipment and systems required by the project they are assigned to. Together with assist the Project Development group in establishing the engineering design scope of the project & DBM.

Responsibilities

• Confirms cable and conduit/cable tray schedules are complete and accurate.
• Confirms cable schedules are using cable types consistently to avoid unnecessary variations and checks for code and specification compliance.
• Confirms if the format of the schedule is consistent with other projects and spot-checks for code compliance.
• Provides oversight on discipline-specific design (sometimes at ESP office) quality & progress.
• Reports issues of concern back to the Lead Oversight Engineer.
• Facilitates the necessary engineering information needed by Project Manager to submit regulatory applications.
• Assist in the procurement process by reviewing equipment spec sheets, technical bid reviews shop visits, and inspections.
• Monitors discipline-specific deliverable quality and schedule, as well as monitors ESP's adherence to their quality program.
• Looks to optimize the design through Value Improving Practices - process simplification, design to capacity, value engineering, and RAM studies (Reliability, Availability & Maintainability)
• Participates in HAZOP and other Hazard reviews.
• Liaisons with other functional Business Unit departments, such as Operations, SCADA, Regulatory, Environmental, Process Safety, Health & Safety, Lands, Stakeholder Relations, Measurement & Allocations, and Communications.

Qualifications

• Electrical Technologist Diploma (CET, P. Tech, or a PL Eng) or equivalent experience.
• Power systems experience is highly desired (powerlines, substations with low-mid voltage).
• Natural gas pipeline compressor station experience is highly desired.
• 7-10 years of Engineering experience in a related field.

Work Schedule

• Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts, 40 hours/week.
• Hybrid Model: Mon, Tue, and Thu at the office / Wed and Fri working from home.
