Civil/Environmental Engineer (Contract)

Primarily Remote - 25% of Travel required (Sparwood and Vancouver, BC)

Introduction

Our client in Sparwood, BC, is in search of a Civil Engineer to join their team. We are looking for a dynamic Technical Engineer with expertise in water treatment, brine management, and engineering project management. In this role, you'll be instrumental in shaping project scopes, upholding quality standards, and providing valuable technology recommendations.

Responsibilities
  • Apply technical expertise to support the development of the Scope of Work (SOW) for various projects within the department. This includes leveraging your engineering knowledge to contribute to project planning and scoping.
  • Lead the development of a review process for technical documents as required, ensuring that these documents meet quality standards. Coordinate reviews efficiently and return feedback to the consultant promptly.
  • Serve as a liaison between the engineering contractor and the project team, focusing on accountability. Monitor and manage the scope, cost, schedule, and quality of engineering contractor deliverables.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to ensure that engineering design adequately addresses the requirements of various disciplines, including Health, Safety, Occupational Hygiene, Process Safety, Risk Management, Technology and Digital Systems, Social, Environmental, Regulatory, Permitting, and Value Improvement Practices.
  • Ensure that engineering work complies with the established Design Basis, maintaining the integrity of the project's technical foundations.
  • Develop Technical Decision Memorandums, outlining rationale and justification for key decisions made during project development and execution.
  • Directly interact with consultants and contractors within your scope of responsibility, addressing technical matters and providing guidance as needed.
  • Support the development of project cost estimates and participate in and manage trade-off studies and economic evaluations, contributing to informed decision-making.
  • Play a pivotal role in helping the client choose the appropriate technology for water treatment, drawing upon your expertise in brine management and groundwater treatment, including Ultrafiltration, Reverse Osmosis, Solid-Liquid Separation, and High-Density Sludge processes.
  • Leverage your experience with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Management (EPCM) projects to contribute effectively to the overall success of the department's initiatives.


Requirements
  • 3-10 years of experience in engineering.
  • Recent experience with brine management and groundwater treatment, including Ultrafiltration, Reverse Osmosis, Solid-Liquid Separation, and High-Density Sludge.
  • Experience in design work and the ability to consolidate multiple ideas into a cohesive solution and scope of work.
  • Professional Engineer in the province of British Columbia.
  • Strong ability to make informed technology recommendations for water treatment.
  • Experience with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Management (EPCM) projects.
