On behalf of our client, we are currently looking for an experience Geologist. The position is primarily focusing on reservoir characterisation with up-to-date knowledge of the latest geological and geophysical techniques, and extends to contribute to reservoir modelling and well planning.

The role will include as a mentor and trainer for the other geologists, as well as provide technical expertise and assistance for the delivery of the geological models of high quality in timely manner.

  • Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the company's policies and procedures.
  • Support the effective implementation of the office safety management system including participation in emergency drills and procedures as required.
  • Provide technical expertise for the geological evaluation and interpretation of the gas and condensate reservoir in the Ichthys Field.
  • Construct geological concept as a basis of geological model.
  • Generate 3D geological models to reflect geological concept by integrating various data such as 3D seismic, core, petrophysics and reservoir dynamic data in corporation with relevant disciplines in a timely manner with the required quality.
  • Evaluate geological/geophysical/petrophysical uncertainties and conduct the uncertainty evaluation with geological modelling software.
  • Familiar with software for geological modeling and uncertainty analysis, and able to apply them immediately for various studies.
  • Provide geological input into well planning work and drilling operations.
  • Optimise the acquisition and pos-acquisition processing / interpretation of geological data from development wells.
  • Plan / Lead / Supervise external studies and other analysis by Contractors.
  • Prepare technical documents, reports and presentation.
  • Raise the purchase requests for the contractors work and review the invoicing from contractors.
  • Able to determine study requirements and define accurately scow of works.
  • To provide the support for presentations and discussions with Tokyo HQ, joint venture and the Government
  • To assist the Lead of Ichthys Development team in designing and implementing a work program and to set budgets for each project
  • To work collaboratively with team members, fostering an open, fair and harmonious workplace


  • Bachelor of Science Geology/ Similar related Geosciences degree
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas industry
  • Geosciences experience including:
  • Data acquisition/processing/interpretation for seismic and well data.
  • Structure interpretation.
  • Geological modelling capability with or without seismic data.
  • Risk and uncertainty analysis.
  • Solid understanding of all subsurface disciplines including reservoir simulation and well testing
  • Australian full working rights
