The Process Chemical Engineer will lead the scoping, planning, execution, and management of technical process and chemical engineering aspects for the successful delivery of an upcoming water plant project for our mining client based in Perth. This role is crucial for ensuring that operational readiness objectives are met, including safety, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.

- Provide technical leadership to facilitate the development and consistent application of operational and maintenance standards and practices.
- Develop and put into action engineering objectives and scope that align with operational readiness strategies.
- Advocate for process safety, especially concerning the integration of D6 and D7 Functional Safety into the design, operations, and maintenance requirements of the water plant.
- Ensure the timely and safe approval of new chemicals related to water plant processing, encompassing compliance, delivery, and storage.
- Take the lead in evaluating contractor designs, encompassing PFDs, P&IDs, and functional safety, to ensure the delivery of a secure and compliant desalination plant.
- Spearhead the development and execution of the Process Engineering framework to guarantee the implementation and maintenance of secure, cost-effective, and dependable design and installations.
- A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in chemical process engineering, preferably in the mining or mineral processing industry.
- Demonstrated experience in leading technical projects and ensuring safety and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of functional safety standards, particularly D6 and D7, is highly desirable.
- Experience in chemical approvals, supply contract negotiations, and chemical storage.
- Familiarity with engineering design reviews and hazard analysis.
- Excellent project management and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of operational readiness and handover processes is a plus.
