IT Analyst (Fixed-Term Contract)

The IT Analyst provides support and technical expertise in the areas of personal computers, smartphones, and associated end-user computing hardware. They must also possess proficiency with internally developed software as well as commercial software used by ABS. The position requires good interpersonal skills; they will work with a wide variety of IMS and non-IMS people.

What You Will Do:
  • Respond to, evaluate and solve a variety of end-user hardware and software problems.
  • Draft user instructions/manuals for end-user computing technologies.
  • Provide desktop support. Analyze information about PCs or other peripheral devices in order to diagnose and resolve problems.
  • Evaluate and recommend software and hardware for ABS end-user computing technologies.
  • Participate in the effort to maintain standards across the entire ABS Enterprise Network. Has responsibilities for maintaining accurate inventories of end-user hardware and software.
  • Incumbent is required to advocate for good cyber security practices across the end-user technologies used at ABS.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience
  • College degree or recognized equivalent, preferably in Computer Science or a related field, from an accredited university or comparable on-the-job experience.
  • 2 years of experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Technical competency with the PC, its functions, related software, diagnosis, and repairs, in a network environment; technically competent in the interface between the PC and the ABS network/telecommunication systems.
  • Knowledge of and working experience with standard ABS end-user application suites, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation graphics, engineering and survey software, communication packages, VPN clients, etc.
  • Previous experience working in organizations to support services provided to internal and external customers.
  • Clarity and conciseness in both oral and written communications, ability to explain technical concepts to all types of employees.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work occasional non-standard hours (e.g., before 8 am and after 5 pm on weekdays and on weekend days).
  • Good interpersonal skills, supports process changes and departmental goals within a matrix organization; ability to communicate and work well with others at all levels of the corporation.
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy.
  • Must hold a valid right to work in the UK.

Reporting Relationships

Reports directly to IMS Management, as appropriate.

Working Conditions:

The work environment will primarily be an air-conditioned office setting requiring the employee to sit for prolonged periods while concentrating on a computer screen. The team member may assist with various tasks, including filing, talking, and may have to lift between 5 - 15 pounds on occasion.
