Job Description
1. Project Planning:
- Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), and resource plans using project management software (such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and constraints.
- Analyze project data to identify potential issues and provide recommendations for resolution.
- Conduct feasibility studies and resource optimization analyses to ensure realistic project timelines.
2. Schedule Monitoring and Control:
- Monitor project progress against the baseline schedule, identifying deviations and potential risks.
- Implement project control processes, track actual progress, and compare it with the planned progress.
- Analyze schedule and cost variances and provide timely reports to project stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain project dashboards and performance metrics for management review.
3. Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project schedules and propose mitigation strategies.
- Conduct risk analysis and scenario planning to assess the impact of risks on project timelines.
- Work closely with the project team to develop contingency plans and alternative schedules to address potential delays.
4. Resource Management:
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure availability of resources required for project activities.
- Optimize resource allocation to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
- Provide input on resource requirements and constraints during the project planning phase.
5. Communication and Collaboration:
- Facilitate regular project review meetings with stakeholders to communicate schedule status, issues, and action plans.
- Collaborate with different teams, including engineering, procurement, and construction, to gather necessary information for schedule updates.
- Act as a liaison between different departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including schedules, progress reports, and change orders.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for management, highlighting project performance and areas needing attention.
- Document lessons learned and best practices for future reference and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in project planning and scheduling within the oil and gas industry.
- Proficiency in project management software, such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of oil and gas industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Certifications in project management (such as PMP) are often preferred.
