Exciting opportunities to work as a Wellsite Field Chemist in rural Queensland (near Chinchilla) within a dynamic environment.

Our client is one of the world's leading testing, inspection and certification companies and they are searching for a Field chemist to conduct laboratory analysis and field sampling at a Wellsite Laboratory based at an onshore production facility.

This includes maintenance of equipment, sampling and analysis as required for production monitoring purposes and development and continual improvement of sampling and analysis procedures.
  • Perform wellsite sampling according to approved standards and SOPS at designated schedules and sampling points.
  • Provide Wellsite Analysis services around testing of Natural Gas, Hydrocarbon fluids and Produced Water. Specific Tests(not limited to)as follows:
  • Hg Measurements in Gas, Hydrocarbon and Water by AAS techniques.
  • Oil in Water by FTIR/ Infracal
  • Natural Gas Composition by Gas Chromatography to ASTM D1945 or similar
  • Basic Water Properties Testing (pH, TDS, Temp etc)
  • Basic Hydrocarbon Properties Testing(Density, RVP, Water Content, Salt Content & Flash Point)
  • Basic Production Chemical Testing (Emulsion & Foaming Tendencies.
  • Operate the Mobile Site Laboratory in accordance to documented procedures, HSE standards and guidelines
  • Perform regular calibration, scheduled maintenance, and troubleshooting on equipment.


The successful Wellsite Laboratory Support at the onshore production site must have qualifications and experience commensurate with working in a wellsite laboratory, specifically:•Qualification in chemistry or related discipline.
•Extensive experience in an oil and gas industry laboratory with particular experience in sampling and analytical testing of liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons or similar instrumental experience.•Experience in performing pressurized sampling at an oilfield production facility
•Experience in the operation, optimisation and basic maintenance of analytical instruments, particularly gas chromatography, ion chromatography, UV/Vis photometry, and Atomic Absorption spectroscopy.•Experience and hazard awareness associated with operating live gas plant sampling stations and off take valving protocols. Familiarity with the application of different sampling configurations.
•Understanding NATA/ISO 17025 accreditation and the requirements for an analytical testing laboratory and experienced in the use of a LIMS.•Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised with the skills to plan and monitor laboratory work and laboratory maintenance programmes, laboratory validation, and laboratory quality control.
•Demonstrated skill to apply systematic knowledge transfer and ability to write comprehensive analytical procedures.
