Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related Engineering Field, essential.
• Project Management qualification desirable and/or professional membership
• Chartered Engineer

Knowledge / Experience (Skills):

Technical Knowledge and Skills

• Experience of working to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
• Execution of feasibility studies and conceptual design, FEED and detailed design projects relating to Gas Processing, Carbon Capture, Hydrogen Production (Green & Blue), oil and gas pipelines.
• Solid engineering design background.
• Experience in process design and systems.

Management Knowledge and Skills

• Skilled in Project Management.
• Management of Project KPIs including Manhour Budgets, GM %, Resource Utilisation.
• Commercial Acumen with respect to Project Contracts, Ts & Cs etc.
• Budget preparation and implementation.
• Ability to identify risks and minimise the company’s exposure to risks on projects.
• Ability to facilitate team and client meetings.
• Ability to keep track of lessons learned on projects and communicate them to the team.
• Ability to identify areas of improvement in internal processes and recommend solutions.
• A collaborative approach, able to develop and maintain relationships with clients and contractors and build a positive team culture within the business.
• Ability to analyse and understand project profitability, revenue and utilisation.
• Good negotiation skills, organisational and time management skills.

Main Purpose of Role:

Reporting to the Director of EPM, the Head of Projects will be responsible for the successful delivery of engineering projects in line with our Project Performance Methodology reporting on performance to senior stakeholders. Providing ongoing support and escalation for the project managers, as well as maintaining oversight of live projects including the timely completion and commercial performance.

Overall Responsibilities:

• Timely delivery of Engineering services for Oil & Gas, Energy Security and Energy Transition projects in Europe.
• Experience of working as a Discipline Engineer prior to becoming a Project Manager with experience in concept, pre-FEED and FEED of Gas Processing, Carbon Capture, Hydrogen Generation (Green/Blue), Compression & Pipelines.
• Delivery of engineering projects according to schedule, quality and cost targets.
• Managing project financial performance to deliver Penspen profit objectives.
• Assist the development of service line business strategies.
• Lead, plan and implement initiatives for improvement of service line performance, cost minimisation and quality of services.
• Development, implementation and monitoring of Project Performance procedures.
• Encourage sharing of best practice group-wide through our Engineering Body of Knowledge (EBOK) and Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
• Collaboration with the Head of Engineering (engineering quality) and PMO Director (project control quality) to maintain and improve project delivery.
• Management, training and performance monitoring of Project Management staff including:
• The recruitment of qualified individuals, completion of performance and development reviews.
• Planning and scheduling of overall engineering activities ensuring all engineering projects are delivered as per our contractual commitments to the highest quality standard and on time.
