Technip Energies UK Operating Centre (T.EN UKOC) is a unique engineering contractor, combining the global strength of Technip Energies with a strong local presence in the UK market. Lead Estimating Engineer (UKOC)

This role will be part of the Technip Energies UKOC based in the UK but can also be located in other European offices, for instance, Rome or Paris.

You will be expected to:

Oversee estimation activities for all kind of jobs/tenders and produces estimates for a specific proposal and/or project, they will be:
  • Responsible for preparing estimates and commercial input for proposals and coordinating the activities for the preparation of small and medium-sized service jobs.
  • Responsible for preparation of EPC CAPEX cost estimates of Any Class in the different phases of the project (Study, FEED, EPC).
  • Able to provide Leadership for UKOC capex estimated and project services tendering, acting on multiple tasks.
  • Ensures timely reporting to the Estimating Department Manager
  • Able to report to Senior management during estimate review meetings (SUBMIT).

UK Operating Centre (London office or Milton Keynes)

Reporting Line

Hierarchically reports to the Head of UK Estimating

Operationally reports to the Proposal manager / Project manager.

Key Interactions (Internally, Externally)

Directly Supervises estimators/engineers.

Internally: BD & Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Finance, Tax, Legal, Project management team

Externally: Subcontractors / Suppliers, Clients

Primary Responsibilities

Main duties:
  • Studies and understands the scope of work, contract, schedule, project execution, local conditions, construction execution, and fiscal scheme of a specific proposal.
  • Prepare and plan project estimate methodology that satisfies the clients expectations, is agreed upon with the Project Management Team and is in line with company guidelines.
  • Follow up and coordinate with other departments, mainly with the technical team, Project/Proposal team and support functions.
  • Conducts cost review meetings with internal departments and project/proposal team and prepares the review with the Head of Estimating and UKOC management.
  • Prepares and presents SUBMIT management reviews at all hierarchic levels, cost estimate presentations and basis / overall cost summary/cash flow and exposure and prepares the price breakdown for submission.
  • Ensures compliance with QHSES and company standards. Interface TEN global estimating, when necessary.
  • Able to collect and update accurate information in relation to the market and reports to the organization.

Additional departmental accountabilities:
  • Provides leadership and expertise in the domain. Update the Estimating group with the latest standards, tools, and norms.
  • Review estimate methodologies and new tools for the approval of the Head of Estimating.
  • Supervise and review the estimating data bank.

Skills and Experience required
  • Degree in engineering, with an extensive and detailed background in engineering.
  • Experience in process design and construction management.
  • Good understanding of the services and EPC contracts and different pricing typologies.
  • Capability to simplify the cost structure and prepare the price by optimizing the cost elements; good understanding of the main contractual scheme elements influencing the price.
  • Good attitude and positive interface with other entities and other operating centres.
  • Knowledge of principles of cost control, management, and project reporting.
  • Software skills with MS Office package, especially with Excel spreadsheets and data management.
  • Knowledge of Visual Basic for Excel macro programming - preferred.
  • Understanding of Aspentech Capital Cost Estimator preferred.
  • Ability to analyse and summarize costs in a short time.
  • Job presentation capabilities.
