Senior Business Development Manager

We are looking for a Senior Business Development Manager for our client who is one of the UK’s leading renewable energy developers.
The successful candidate will be focused on converting leads - generated by our Market Development Managers and company’s external channel partners - through to contract closure, and will be expected to also contribute to the project pipeline through self-generated opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate a healthy and sustainable pipeline of prospective business leads.
- Identify and onboard channel partners to increase inbound leads.
- Formulate, prepare, and present proposals to prospective business customers.
- Negotiate and secure power purchase agreements, and solar installation contracts in line with business targets.
- Keep up to date with industry trends, competitors, and market conditions to identify potential opportunities and threats to the company’s sales activities.
- Attend external meetings and events as required to represent the company and develop new business relationships.
- May required to manage junior members of the team.
- Biweekly reporting to the Commercial Director.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the C&I solar sector, specifically within a business development role, with proven success in closing sales.
- Highly competent in the preparation and presentation of proposals to senior and c-suite decision makers.
- A competent understanding of:
- Technical specifications and installation of rooftop C&I solar PV
- UK grid network and retail energy market
- UK Planning regulations, specifically to solar PV
- The use of a Solar yield simulator (e.g. PVSyst, PVSol) preferable but not mandatory
- The use of online solar design tools (e.g. Opensolar, Solaredge) preferable but not mandatory
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with potential customers.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple business opportunities.
- Confident in the use of LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Microsoft Outlook and experience in using CRM software.
- A proactive and positive attitude, with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
