JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently searching for a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to participate on projects conducted at the Wood Houston - Park Ten campus. Project scope may vary, but will primarily focus on providing input, analysis and oversight pertaining to Process Hazards Analysis (PHA), Risk Management, and Fire Protection studies. Projects include both onshore and offshore facilities. Candidates should possess the following skills and attributes:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete project tasks with minimal guidance and direction. May be expected to serve as the Lead Fire Protection Engineer on large and complex projects.
  • Competently perform all fire protection engineering functions and deliverables, including and related to: fire water pump and system sizing, detailed hydraulic calculations, deluge design, active and passive fire protection evaluations, fire and gas detection system design, and design of fire protection and safety equipment layouts.
  • Proficient in the basic principles of: Safety by Design, Inherently Safer Design, Process Safety and Risk Management.
  • Knowledgeable in regulatory codes and standards related to fire protection in oil, gas, and petrochemical facilities.
  • Project discipline lead related activities, including project management of personnel, routine reporting, scheduling, staffing planning and coordination. Assign tasks to and supervise the work of less senior personnel.
  • Able to check and correct technical reports, calculations, and drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards.
  • Initiates regular communication between the technical safety team members and other engineering disciplines to ensure quality of work and maintain a consistent technical content for all design documents and data throughout the project.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 10 years of fire protection and/or technical safety engineering experience
  • Proficient in PIPENET
  • Proficient in AutoCAD a plus
  • Experience in HAZMAP 3D a plus
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software
  • Occasional field visits, climbing stairs, ladders and lifting up to 25 lbs.
