JOB DESCRIPTION
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and develop automation systems for solids control equipment. Be able to come up with concepts that could add value to existing product line. Design tests to evaluate such concepts. Fabricate test set-ups with assistance from technicians, welders, and fitters. Be hands on in building test set-ups working with technicians. Be able to improvise when creating test set ups and conducting tests. Be able to select the right components (from a small screw to sophisticated controllers) required conduct of tests. Have the knowledge to make the right measurement required to evaluate test phenomena and adjust procedures based on test scenarios. Use DAQ equipment to acquire data from sensors such as accelerometers, load cells, LVDT's and process, analyze the data. Have knowledge of signal processing echniques (filtering , FFT's etc) to make sense of test data using tools such as MATLAB Develop control algorithms and test them in simulations created in tools such as Labview. Evaluate control algorithms by testing under different conditions in test facility using controllers such as NI compactRIO, Siemens Beckhoff or PLC. Travel to rig locations and install prototype automation systems. Work with field personnel to collect data and monitor prototype systems. Work with drafters to create drawings of prototypes. Create test procedures, document results, write reports and present to management. Work within guidelines as set by NOV values and ethics Travel globally to rig locations as and when required - expected travel - 33% Carry out other duties as may be reasonably expected by line manager.
Qualification and Experience Requirements
MATLAB, Python, LabView, TwinCAT, PLC programming Hands on experience using sensors, actuators, and data acquisition instrumentation. Mechanically inclined with ability to conceptualize, improvise, and conduct testing. Experienced in developing control and automation algorithms. Experienced in using LabVIEW CompactRIO or Siemens Beckhoff controller platforms. Experienced in PLC programming. Ability to use signal processing techniques to analyse and interpret large scale data using tools such as MATLAB or Python Ability to work in harsh (noisy, dirty) and physically challenging environments. Willingness to learn from senior engineers and be proactive. Travel (33%) to remote rig locations to install and monitor prototype systems.
