If you also have continious improvement, vendor management and change management experience then this could be a great role for you. Wood are looking for a Head of Technical Training and Competence within our Operations Business Unit. The majority of the team are based in Aberdeen so would prefer this role to be based however for the right candidate this can be discussed.

The Head of Technical Training &Competence EMEA leads by example, consistently displaying and enforcing the Company's values and behaviours, role modelling commitment to the highest standards of safe and ethical behaviour and creating an inclusive work environment., to ensure safe and reliable operations, on-time delivery of executed work, and client satisfaction. Will provide guidance and direction to the T&C management and support teams in day-to-day management of T&C delivery, ensuring appropriate governance and controls are in place and ensuring Wood is working to the highest possible standards of integrity and safety.

The Head of Technical Training& Competence EMEA is responsible for the governance of the T&C function within EMEAC Operations. This is a strategic role, providing stewardship and assurance in relation to T&C procedures, systems and capability. It supports and compliments the T&C personnel allocated to projects and contracts throughout the EMEAC Operations business.

The role drives and assures delivery excellence across the EMEA region. Accountable for functional management and development of T&C resources and governance of T&C practices and procedures. Has functional oversight of the performance of all T&C activity within EMEAC Region.

Responsible for the assessment, verification, recording, reportingand assurance of technical competence and for the delivery, recording and reporting of mandatory technical and safety training courses and certification.

Ensures that operational leadershave visibility of the competence of their workforce, that gaps are being activelymonitored and addressed,and that robust record-keeping is in place.

Leads and manages the EMEA team of technical training & competence advisors and assessors / verifiers

RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Duties
  • Responsible to the Operations Director for the delivery of all technical training and competency delivery to EMEA Operations BU.
  • Define and guide the growth, development and delivery of T&C governance and stewardship within EMEAC, supporting the development of T&C strategy and inputting to the related business plans and strategic imperatives.
  • Responsible for the EMEAC Training & Competence Assurance Management Systemsand programmes, providing global input and ownership where required.
  • Responsible for the alignment of all regions within EMEA with regard training and competence
  • Accountable for the management of the assessment and verification of competence, recordsand evidence
  • Continuous improvement of training &competence assurance systemsand processes
  • Oversight of mandatory/ minimum trainingcompliance management, monitoring and reporting
  • Ownership of EMEA training and competence-related procedures and processes
  • Interface manager and contract owner for 3rd party trainingproviders
  • Stays abreast of changesin relevant statutory / mandatory requirements and ensures internalprocesses remain compliant
  • Create a positive working environment for diverse T&C resources to flourish, ensuring recruitment, selection and development processes are inclusive and free from bias

Line management for EMEA technical training & competence team
  • Responsiblefor recruitment, performance development, pay reviewsand all other general line management responsibilities for the team
  • Sets vision and direction for team and ensures they are working to agreed standardsand procedures

Level of influence and decision making authority
  • High degree of influenceover operational leadership regarding training and competence management
  • Develop local T&C processes and procedures in line with Wood policies and requirements.
  • Influence over vendor selection and management of.
  • Supervises a strategic multidisciplinary team of T&C professionals.
  • Participate in Project and Proposals Management reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

Typically qualified to ISCED Level 6 (Bachelors or equivalent) or has achieved a similar level of expertise through a combination of education and experience

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Excellent understanding of the link between training,competence and safety with a relentless focus on driving achievement
  • Very good understanding of all technical disciplines within business area
  • Experience managing teams, ideally over multi-geographic locations
  • Experience in managing vendorsand working with supply chain to achievebest value from procurement
  • High level of IT literacy, especially Microsoft Office

  • Highly organised and able to juggle multiplepriorities and work to short deadlines
  • High integrity and pragmatism; able to balanceneed for procedural compliance with operational demands without exposing any employee to safety risks
  • Excellent, clear communicator both verbally in writing
  • Analytical and data-oriented with a drivefor detail and accuracy
