This Instrumentation & Electrical Technician will be based out of Liberal, KS and is primarily responsible for the safe operations and maintenance of Company pipeline and plant assets located in the plant and around the geographic area. The position will calibrate and inspect measurement equipment, conduct routine plant maintenance, eliminate, and report product leaks, seeps, and spills, as well as assist with construction, maintenance, and mechanical integrity projects in the plant. The position will maintain qualifications and record documentation in accordance with all applicable DOT and OSHA regulations to ensure compliance.

Responsibilities May Include:
  • Performing and providing technical support for installations, maintenance, and repairs of mechanical, Instrumentation, electrical, and rotating equipment.
  • Performing planned maintenance checks and calibration within a timely manner and submits appropriate reports.
  • Applying knowledge and experience with precision tools such as Fluke meters, temp gages, torque wrench, dial indicators, laser alignment tools, etc.
  • Complete pump tear down/rebuild inspections and new pump installations.
  • Working with Pipeline Integrity and Reliability group for new technologies around rotating equipment.
  • Minimizing downtime and unsafe conditions by performing preventative and corrective maintenance on various types of equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Maintaining mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation skills by attending training sessions and on-the-job training.
  • Disassembling equipment, recording as-found and as-left measurements, clearances, and/or tolerances and reassembling machinery.
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical problems with terminal and field units.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing minor and major electrical control circuits.
  • Responding to emergencies and participate in emergency response.
  • Participating in Safety Action Plans.
  • Completing and maintaining required operations and safety/regulatory training (CBT), including required Operator Qualifications for DOT covered tasks.
  • Pursuing cost reduction opportunities.
  • Reading and understanding pump curves.
  • Reading and understanding P&ID's, mechanical and wiring diagrams.
  • Performing work on air pollution control equipment.
  • Providing support to Quality Assurance\Quality Control over 3rd Party contractors performing major maintenance.

Required Qualifications:
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must maintain a valid drivers license
  • 2 or more years of Instrumentation and/or Electrical experience in relevant Industry (Midstream, Pipelines or Terminals)
  • To travel up to 40% of the time
  • Willingness and ability to perform and comply with following, with or without reasonable accommodations:
    • To climb up to 200 feet using both inclined and vertical steps/ladders
    • To lift up to 45 pounds and carry material on a daily basis on even and uneven terrain.
    • To bend, kneel, knee stand and squat up to 30 minutes at a time
    • To sit and stand for prolonged periods over 2 hours at a time according to job demands
    • To work overtime on an as-needed basis
    • To respond to emergency calls as needed
    • To work a rotating call-out schedule
    • To work alone a high percentage of the time
    • To work outside in harsh weather conditions
    • To work with chemicals and bases
    • To work with hydrocarbons that are under high pressure and heat
    • To wear personal protective equipment (such as fire-retardant clothing, steel-toe shoes, ear and eye protection)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Electrical Maintenance, Instrumentation or Mechanical
  • 4 or more years of relevant Industry experience (Midstream, Pipeline or Terminals) or Military experience
  • 4 or more years of experience working with any of the following:
    • Electrical power and components
    • Digital and analog circuitry
    • One-line drawings and schematics
    • Allen-Bradley PLCs
    • Rosemount Transmitters
    • OMNI flow computer
    • Mechanical and rotating equipment

Midstream

Phillips 66's Midstream business is a safe, reliable and trusted logistics provider for the movement and storage of liquid or gas energy via pipelines or terminals.
