Position Summary

Purpose

The QC Inspector will provide support to the workshop in Angola for the Offshore Project Group and Subsea Robotics Business Segments and will be responsible for performing inspection activities in accordance with requirements set up by the company and clients.

Duties & Responsibilities

Functions

ESSENTIAL

• Responsible for carrying out inspections of materials, parts, products and assemblies, as well as associated documentation.

• Responsible for timely and accurate completion of inspection reports.

• Ensure that all existing work routines, practices, procedures and systems are followed.

• Receiving control; process and final control.

• Perform dimensional checks and visual verifications.

• Approve the quality of machined parts and assemblies according to acceptance criteria.

• Review of technical documentation accompanying products/components, for example, measurement reports, material certificates, declarations of conformity, welding/NDT reports.

• Contact suppliers as required.

• Develop and maintain inspection plans according to requirements.

• Assist various professionals and departments in technical control tasks, guidance, and training.

• Control and verification of calibrated equipment in accordance with requirements.

• Report and process deviations/Non-Conformances.

• Contribute to the improvement of our processes and procedures

• Document own work, as well as assist with periodic reports.

• Support delivery of training initiatives as and when required.

Safety

Ensure that the Safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to so far as is reasonably practicable in order to ensure a safe working environment.

Carry out work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems.

Perform the assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems on the Company.

Eliminate waste of whatever form, to suggest the use of more environmentally friendly substances and practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has NO direct supervisory responsibilities.

Reporting Relationship

• Daily Reporting to OPG/SSR Operations Manager

• Direct Report to Quality Manager Africa.

Qualifications

Qualifications

REQUIRED

§ Minimum academic qualification in mechanical or electrical disciplines (HNC / ONC or equivalent) or extensive work experience in quality control in Oil / Gas, Petrochemical, Automotive Industries.

DESIRED

§ Recognized qualification in welding / fabrication processes or similar experience

§ Recognized Qualifications in Non Destructive Testing practices or similar proven experience

§ Sound understanding of material and manufacturing

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

:

• Technical education, for example technical vocational school, certificate in machining/mechanics/receipt control. Relevant and longer work experience can compensate for a lack of formal competence.

• Experience from the oil/gas/subsea industry will be an advantage.

• Knowledge related to inspection, quality control and current standards.

• In-depth knowledge of the use of measuring equipment

• Ability to read and understand procedures, material certificates, technical drawings and other technical documentation

• Good knowledge in areas such as machining, welding, surface treatment, hydraulics and pressure testing

• Technical interest and understanding

• Good computer skills

• Attentive, structured, systematic and accurate

• Solution-oriented with good collaboration and communication skills.

• Good attitude to HSE, order and tidiness.

Working Conditions

This position is considered SHOP WORK which is characterized as follows:

§ Generally, work performed indoors (80%) and occasional outdoors (20%).

§ Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the workplace.

§ Work surface is stable (flat).

§ Requires a great deal of manual dexterity, such as working with measuring and testing equipment, marking and hand/power tools
