JOB PURPOSE :

The global clean hydrogen/ammonia market is in a fast-developing stage, with significant long-term growth potential based on its emergence as an energy vector rather than a feedstock/fertiliser . This requires a targeted but bold business development approach to enable ADNOC to meet its ambitious global leadership strategy. It requires proactive engagement to explore partnership opportunities with market players along the value chain, as well as the development of organic projects and initiatives to build assets and capabilities, developing momentum industry-wide towards the adoption of hydrogen/ammonia as a leading low-carbon solution for hard-to-abate sectors. It also requires the engagement with government stakeholders and regulatory bodies to drive the development of an adequate framing that will enable sustainable business models.

ADNOC is hiring Senior Specialists to join the growing Hydrogen Business Development team. The intention of the team is to:
  • Proactively identify , evaluate and develop opportunities to profitably grow ADNOC's low-carbon hydrogen production portfolio, making agile & courageous decisions while leading potential deals, projects and partnerships within the UAE and with market players internationally. Lead execution of commercial elements of pilots and demonstration projects.
  • Identify and develop/maintain long-term relationships with potential offtakers of clean hydrogen and derivatives, leading to offtake agreements which underpin the economics of current and future producing assets. Lead negotiations (MOU's, JSA's, SFA's, PFA's etc.) and offtake contracts incl. pricing and volume commitments.
  • Drive & manage joint project development activities through project maturation in line with ADNOC's Value Assurance Process (VAP).
  • Proactively engage local & international government entities to help shaping H 2 & CO 2 ecosystem (e.g. policies, subsidies, etc.) and engage with regulatory & certification bodies.
  • Continuously map & monitor market trends (incl. competitor activities) to identify new trends and opportunities for Hydrogen Business.

    • the Hydrogen Business Team
    • the broader Hydrogen team across within ADNOC and affiliate companies
    • the Low-Carbon and International Growth department orf ADNOC
    • ADNOC in its entirety
Technical Competencies:
  • Develop techno-economic feasibility studies of shortlisted opportunities
  • Work with engineering, technology & consultancy companies to get the most benefit from them and analyzing data to create the rights decisions.

Supervision
  • Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.

Budgets and Operational Plans
  • Provide input for preparation of the Division's budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver Division objectives.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
  • Implement approved Division policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the Division work programs in line with Company and International standards.

Performance Management
  • Contribute to the achievement of the approved performance objectives for the Division in line with the Company Performance framework.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement
  • Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.

Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability
  • Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Economics or any other related field.

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
  • 10 years' experience in Energy, of which 5 years' experience in Clean Energy
  • Proven track record of developing and delivering large scale business and investment opportunities (significant CAPEX & OPEX) in relevant industries.
  • Ability to operate in an international environment ability to adapt to different cultural situations. Exposure to target markets in Europe, the US and Asia (esp. Japan, South Korea) is seen as a plus.
  • Ability to use data-driven analyses to create and communicate compelling investment opportunities
  • Self-motivated and self-organising, with the ability to bring drive, accountability and clarity to the delivery of business opportunities
