The Experience Lead focuses on enabling realization of Shell's Learning Strategy, across both the employee and extended workforce. The Lead brings insight from external benchmarks and

best practices and applies Lean/Continues improvement principles for maximum business value, efficiency, and end user experience. Together with the Product Owners, continuously seeks to optimize the usage of systems with a focus on the end user experience at a sustainable cost.

What's the role
  • Leads design of HR processes across the Learning and KM ecosystem.
  • In partnership with IDT and the Learning and KM Leadership Tearn, defines the mid-term and long-term ecosystem and digital landscape for Learning and KM.
  • Thinking partner with Process Owner (VP Learning) and relevant Heads (Head of KM and Head of Learning Strategy, LX and Ops) to form mid- to long-term vision of the process and digital capabilities needed to deliver Shell's Learning and KM Strategy.
  • Works in close partnership with Experience Lead Talent and Resourcing and HR Programme Manager Learning Experience Platform (LXP) to realize the full end-to-end vision for the implementation of Skills across Shell.
  • In partnership with the Process Owner, and drawing on the know-how of relevant HR SMEs, proactively identify Cl opportunities and articulate benefits/value.
  • Leads a team of direct reports and indirect "natural team" members across Digital HR, HR IDT and Learning and KM CoE to translate that vision into pragmatic and impactful processes and system solutions. Provides strong line leadership to Product Owner and Process Analysts
  • Collaborates with the Learning Process Owner, Head of KM and Head of Learning Strategy, LX and Ops in reviewing performance and setting the forward improvement agenda; ensures clear prioritization based on business value/benefit.
  • Collects feedback from end users to understand their needs and actively test designed solutions with end user forums.
  • Collaborates with HR Service Design & Integration Manager to optimize service delivery in process designs; collaborates with other Experience Leads for end-to-end integration.
  • Partners with the Chief Product Owner and IDT Managers in HR IDT on clearly outlining business requirements for IT solution design.
  • Keeps Journey design, Product Development and System Support for own area aligned in one overall model from design to delivery of solutions within agreed frameworks, standards, and ways of working.
  • Seeks and analyses design input across a broad range of stakeholders from HR operations employees, end users to HR VP' s
  • Brings external best practices and benchmarking data into solution design.
  • Designs or approves process flows and standard operating procedure documentation for HR Operations staff.
  • Delivers robust KPls/performance measures, data definitions & structures, controls, and Service Delivery Model implications in process designs. Reviews and approves/ declines variations to processes.
  • Supports Product Owners in defining a Product Roadmap and provides additional information/business insights to prioritize backlog in conflict situations.
  • Agrees with Product Owner the acceptance criteria and provide 'definition of done' for user stories/epics, to assure the functionality developed is answering the business needs.
  • Delivers test scripts and sign off on test results for all system changes in own Experience area working closely with the DevOps team.
  • Owns data definitions for data that is mastered in her/his user journey and defines data controls including segregation of duties.
  • Defines reporting requirements for their journey and make sure those are aligned with other journeys.
  • Guides Process Analysts in global change cycle activities; supports Process Analysts in providing complete Tier 3 advice and/ or guidance on change request process.
  • Acts as advisor/ escalation point on journey processes.
  • Acts as entry point for all projects/ activities that need support from the members of own team, ensuring robust business cases for all work coming in, no business case no project.
  • Allocates and arranges resources (also outside of own team) to staff projects/ activities where it will create most value in the delivery of people and business value.
  • Acts as functional lead for the activity, or in case of a project, work as the HR Project manager with an assigned HRIT Project Manager, ensuring activities are tracking to planned deadlines.
  • Stays fully aligned to initiatives and activities on other User Journeys that might impact own user journeys and make sure they are all aligned to the goals of the total team.
  • Identifies interdependencies between own Experience team and other Experience teams and flag connected issues and risks between deliverables of the different activities and take action to manage these.
  • Jointly focuses with all Experience Leads on delivering a fully aligned and connected end user experience.
  • For the mid-term, the priority focus is on sustaining and selectively improving the overall Learning digital ecosystem, based on business value, whilst the Learning Experience Platform (LXP) platform is piloted and deployed. This demands close working with the Programme Manager LXP, prioritization and synchronization of change initiatives across the Business As Usual (BAU) and LXP Programme teams - ensuring that impact to the end-to-end user experience is minimized and that full value can be realized from the LXP Programme, whilst progressing the overall Strategic Roadmap for Learning and KM.
  • Throughout this transition, essential compliance-related processes (including Competence and Compliance Assurance- CCA) and external reporting requirements must be sustained and, over time, simplified in dialogue with global Ethics & Compliance.
  • At the same time, there is a need to partner closely with Head of KM reframe the ambition for Knowledge Management for the Enterprise - leveraging newly emerging market standard Generative Al solutions to uplift the value realization for Shell. This is an area of experimentation and discovery, requiring close partnership with the KM CoE, Shell's Al CoE and a range of Business Sponsors.
  • Working across a broad range of stakeholders and able to influence at the VP level and, as needed, at EVP level - establishing effective working relationships across the Learning Leadership Tearn.
  • Establishing and sustaining impactful relationships with third party providers including Workday (learning management solution), EdCast (LXP provider), NIIT (Shell's Learning Ops partner and provider of current CCA solution) - influencing product roadmap where relevant and ensuring insight on upcoming product releases, longer-term product strategy and emerging shifts in the external Learning digital solution vendor environment.
  • Driving effective prioritization of the Cl Agenda to ensure focus on highest value add improvements.
  • Ensuring effective partnership with, and delivery from, the IDT Function
  • Working, communicating, and influencing in a global, virtual organization as well as supporting colleagues in various locations and time zones.
  • Demonstrating consistently a can-do attitude and living the principles of employee centric design, Cl behaviors and agile project management.
  • The Learning Experience team has e2e accountability from Process Design, Data Management to Product Management. Support the team in building the capability and culture of User-experience centred thinking connected to a digital strategy: defining how to evaluate experience, journey maps/design choices from both an employee and line manager perspective
What we need from you

  • The role requires: a highly experienced HR professional with 15+ yrs. experience, 5+ yrs. experience in a leadership position within HR or other similar complex environments.
  • The incumbent should have Learning domain knowledge, ideally including direct involvement in Learning digital solution Programme management and delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of a wide range of HR processes and systems - and where Learning and KM sit in the overall Employee Experience - as well as understanding of the HR IDT organization and ways of working.
  • Tearn leadership capability and the ability to coach and develop more junior team members across the full natural team.
  • Knowledge of Agile project management methodology, Scrum ceremonies and DevOps Ways of Working.
  • Very strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including coaching of senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to look at the long-term, strategic picture and able to balance risk with value.
  • Ability to bring in external perspectives.
  • Experience with user journeys and design thinking.
  • Well-developed communication skills including the ability to communicate at all levels within the organization and to establish and maintain good working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong collaboration mindset, supporting cross functional (HR & IT) DevOps teams.
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in driving change, influencing outcome and gaining senior management support.
