Activities

TotalEnergies R&D is a strategic tool for supporting the growth of the Company. PERL (Pôle d'Etudes et de Recherche de Lacq) is a research center of TotalEnergies that operates R&D in three main domains: Gas separation, Environment and Sustainable Development, and Physical Chemistry and Analysis. PERL also owns 5.5 ha on the SEVESO III industrial site to support the whole Company research activities. Research is operated internally and via collaborations with other companies and with academic partners.

The "Physical Chemistry and Analysis" department focuses on topics related to liquids/solids/gas interfaces at stake for sustainable oil production, CO2 capture and storage and new energies deployment. In this context, TotalEnergies is looking for a researcher and team leader to be the Head of "Physical Chemistry in porous media" R&D laboratory to:

  • Design, carry out and interpret experiments of multiphase flow in porous media, in order to evidence phenomena, optimize processes or acquire data to feed models
  • Understand and interpret experimental results in light of his/her competencies in hydrodynamics (flow in confined media) and physical chemistry of interfaces (fluids/rocks interfaces, equilibria and reactivity)

As Head of "Physical Chemistry in porous media" R&D laboratory, your missions encompass QHSE, R&D and management activities, together with scientific and technical expertise:

  • You are responsible that operational activities are compliant with QHSE standards
  • You propose experimental programs in line with TotalEnergies research projects and you contribute to budgets preparation
  • You are responsible for the conception and evolution of the installations or equipments to conduct the programs
  • You are responsible for delivering quality results in time
  • You ensure the proper human and technical functioning of your team composed of technicians, interns, PhD students and post-doctoral students: priorities management, distribution of work, supervision. You propose training actions and staff career advancement
  • You participate in the life of the research center (audits, visits, meetings) and promote harmonious functioning between the different entities
  • You ensure scientific and technical monitoring in your field
  • You participate as a specialist in research projects in collaboration, in particular with academic laboratories, and within the joint laboratory "Physico-chemistry of Complex Interfaces" (TotalEnergies/ESPCI)
  • You stimulate innovation and propose patent applications
  • You communicate regularly on the results obtained internally (technical and annual reports, intranet, highlights, etc.) and externally (scientific conferences, publications)

Context & Environment

To meet its ambitious objectives of the energy transition towards electricity and renewable energies, TotalEnergies' entity, OneTech, combines all the corporate departments providing technical support to our operations and R&D (Exploration & Production, Refining & Chemical, Marketing & Services and Gas, Renewables & Power). With a 3,400-strong workforce, OneTech will be split into three hubs: an industrial hub supporting the Company's expansion in gas, renewables, electricity and carbon emissions reduction; a research & development hub regrouping all TotalEnergies' research activities to anticipate the Company's transformation, by giving priority to the low-carbon mix; and a support hub (HR and finance)

By integrating all the Company's technical and R&D expertise in a single entity, OneTech becomes one of the pillars of TotalEnergies' transformation into a multi-energy company.
