PROJECT SUMMARY

Air Products, Saudi Aramco and ACWA Power are in final negotiations to form an over $11 billion Gasification/Power joint venture (JV) located at Jazan Economic City (JEC) in Saudi Arabia.

The Jazan IGCC is the world’s largest IGCC and ASU facility making 2100 MMSCFD syngas, 18,000 MT/Day Oxygen and 4 Gigawatts of power. Facilities and assets include: liquids gasification, acid gas clean up, soot ash recovery, Sulphur recovery, combined cycle power plants, materials handling systems, hydrogen recovery, water utilities systems and waste water treatment facilities.

POSITION SUMMARY

The electrical commissioning engineer will be supported by a Lead Electrical engineer, OEM support, and C&SU support.

This position is intended to target candidates with field/operations experience in large process plants. The Jazan IGCC team supports the safe and efficient leadership, planning, commissioning and start-up of process gas units, including our newly acquired gasification technologies.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This opportunity is focused on providing electrical engineering commissioning support for the safe turnover of electrical equipment by collaborating with maintenance, operations, engineers, and multidisciplinary C&SU teams; support the electrical function testing and commissioning of electrical equipment and then support the start-up operations of the facility. This includes:

• Developing work processes and strategies for commissioning and start-up of all electrical distribution systems.

• Setting the strategy and leading support to properly commission and start-up already installed equipment.

• Supporting our C&SU, Contractors, Maintenance and Operations organizations during the commissioning and start-up period.

• Participating in plant troubleshooting, turnaround support and performance optimization for existing facilities

• Ability to fluently read all relevant electrical design drawings and documentation, including P&ID’s.

SKILLS

• Lead by example with regards to following procedures and our highest priority of maintaining personnel safety.

• Understand electrical engineering design and a proven ability to interpret single line diagrams, three line diagrams, control schematics, construction drawings/ details, and other electrical technical documentation.

• Experience and working knowledge of the following electrical engineering, construction and safety standards: ANSI/IEEE, NFPA, API, NEC, and IEC.

• Experience with electrical testing/procedures as well as the following electrical testing equipment: multi-function meter, insulation resistance tester (megger), low resistance ohmmeter (ductor), high potential dielectric withstand equipment (hi-pot), current injection units, and sweep frequency response analysis (SFRA) equipment.

• Experience in testing of medium, and low-voltage: motors, switchgear, VFD’s, cables, relays, auxilliatry equipment etc.

• Experience with setting up and programming various electrical protection relays.

• Possess proven strong leadership skills to drive both internal and external teams to their highest performance.

• Critical thinking skills and problem solving capability.

• Effective communicator who will seek out cross-functional technical expertise as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BS in Electrical Engineering is preferred or 8- 20 years of commissioning and /or operating plant electrical engineering/maintenance experience.
  • Have a minimum 4 years of experience in commissioning and maintenance of medium, and low voltage electrical distribution systems on large process plants.
