Your background
  • University Degree in a Technical field, preferably Environmental Science, Ecology or Biology.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) and environmental management, including experience with:
    1. The marine environment and offshore development projects.
    2. Planning, coordinating, preparing, and reviewing environmental impact assessments.
    3. Managing external environmental consultants to meet contractual requirements and to deliver a product.
    4. Communicating with regulatory authorities, multi-disciplinary project teams, peers, and stakeholders.
    5. National and international environmental legislation, sufficient to understand and to provide robust advice on the Danish regulatory environmental assessment and approval process.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in the use of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in oral and written English - Danish language skills considered a plus.

Activities

Key Responsibilities

As Lead Environment Advisor - Environmental Assessment in the Environmental Team of the Health, Safety and Environment Department, you will hold the position of a subject matter expert on all levels of environmental and social impact assessments to help maintain TotalEnergies Denmark's responsible standards of operation. Your primary aim will be to support projects and new activities to assess and identify controls for any potential impacts before commencement of the activity as part of the activity approval process.

In the role, you will oversee independent third-party environmental consultancies, acting as liaison between them and the project team, from the kickoff of the study, and throughout the preparation, review, submission and follow up.

You will also liaise with the authorities on the scope of such studies, coordinate the passage of information between project teams and the consultancies as well as through the regulatory environmental approval process.

These areas of responsibilities will include tasks such as:
  • Manage the preparation and submission of various impact assessment studies.
  • Prepare and submit small 'Environmental Statements'.
  • Oversee / support Environment team peers who may assist with preparing EIA documentation.
  • Oversee and collaborate with external consultants in their preparation of larger 'Environmental Impact Screening' and 'Environmental and Social Impact Assessment' documentation.
  • Communicate with Project team members, participate in Project progress meetings and integrate environmental requirements into the overall Project.
  • Technically review consultant drafts and coordinate final document completion for submission to the regulator.
  • Revise documents in response to project team, manager, regulator or stakeholder comments.
  • Communicate with the regulatory authorities and coordinate the passage of studies and documentation through the regulatory environmental approval process.
  • Communicate with stakeholders and respond to environmental issues that may arise.
  • Report to management on the progress of all studies and associated budgets.
  • Collaborate with Head Quarters (Paris), other TotalEnergies' affiliates and other environment team members to develop environmental and biodiversity information suitable for EIAs, environmental performance reporting and environmental management.

General
  • Provide technical input into Environment-related Project documentation required within TotalEnergies referential, within the TotalEnergies Denmark Health, Safety and Environment Management System.
  • Communicate the importance of the EIA process to the wider TotalEnergies Denmark audience (e.g., through presentations).
