Your role and responsibilities

Your role will be located at the Edmonton facility where we are manufacturing Cable Trays. Edmonton Plant is a Satellite location reporting to the authority of Iberville (St-Jean sur Richelieu, Qc) Management. Edmonton Facility (49 000 sq-ft) is a team averaging 26 blue collars and 3 white collars. Base on the plant size you will have a role in Quality and also HSE. You will be reporting directly to the plant manager located in Iberville (Province of Qc) in your role in Quality and be supported by Iberville Quality Team. You will act with safety, efficiency, quality and productivity to ensure that products and systems meet stated requirements. You will employ various test protocols and apply standards to ensure that good quality is maintained and assist in developing test protocols to investigate the integrity of new products, or new functionality for existing products. You will oversee investigating internal/external NCR, external PARR & lead continuous improvement actions regarding internal/external audit. You will oversee the quality management system (ISO 9001). Reporting directly to the plant manager, your role will be improving occupational health, safety and environment (HSE) performance by driving behavioral change, maintaining an exemplary safety culture in the Edmonton plant. You will be reporting and investigating incidents, gathering feedback, conducting root cause analysis and communicating lessons learned and best practices to the wider business. You will aid the business by applying your knowledge to provide solutions and advice to address a variety of issues. You will lead continuous improvement actions regarding internal/external audit. • Driving continuous improvement by implementing the Group-wide system, training, the delivery of assistance from the Center of Expertise, and improvement programs • Empowering the management team to grasp obligations, liability, and how to fulfil their roles according to law and ABB policy, instructions and standards. • Facilitating risk assessments by line management, and ensuring all processes and corrective actions are implemented. • Ensuring that appropriate safety equipment and tools are available and used, identifying and planning training, and ensuring compliance with the Group management system. • Ensuring Edmonton Plant is audited according to the Group Assurance & Audit Program Internal/External. • Engaging stakeholders to raise awareness of ABB's safety initiatives, winning commitment to ABB's goals, and reporting on performance and progress. • Planning and executing related projects, managing resources and reporting on objectives and progress. • Providing assistance to other functional teams to deploy incoming test protocols and to perform first article inspections. • Ensuring that data are available according to ABB Quality & Operations guidelines. • Working with others to improve test protocols and capability, creating greater efficiency, accuracy and reliability of test outcomes. • Utilizing Lean 6 Sigma to collect, record, and evaluate quantitative metrics that provide descriptive data for the determination of compliance to requirements. • Training machine operators in basic quality test routines to aid in quality-at-source processes and verifying quality assurance testing.

Qualifications for the role

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in a similar field.
  • Engineering Degree.
  • Factory Experience & Manufacturing Processes.
  • Knowledge about 6 sigma & Continuous Improvement.
  • A solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Current driving license (valid) & Passport.
