Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB's success with technology, software, product, and system development. Each day, you will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems. You will also showcase your expertise by providing ideas and by being able to work both independently and as a part of a Research & Development (R&D) team. The work model for the role is: #LI-Onsite This role is contributing to the Robotics and Discrete Automation business BA Function Technology division in Bangalore, India. You will be mainly accountable for: • Will be the architect for Data Interface products - both current and future including, but not limited to, RWS( RESTFul API's) and OPC UA( Open standard) • Contributing to the improvements on existing projects in revamping them for SW architecture, design, Testing practices fixing critical bugs, evolving NFR's • Demonstrate improved metrics for the projects in a timebound manner. • Serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to the projects, providing guidance to colleagues, acting as a mentor, and sharing lessons learned. • Maintain close connections with Lead Software Architects and identify new technology projects that can be converted to PoCs and product backlog • Representing own group/team in engineering and research forums, both internal and external to ABB. • Living ABB's core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for the team. • Be very approachable and accessible to all team members and able to groom others • Pleasing personality, very good written and oral communication

Qualifications for the role
- Qualification and experience
- Bachelor's / master's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent and Should have 15 -20 years of experience designing, implementing and testing communication protocols using Windows C++( 2017) , preferably embedded products.
- Experience on RestFUl API server development using C++( 2017) or similar protocols and Debugging, optimization for memory, performance, throughput in C++( 2017), fixing critical bugs and Experience on OPC UA - both server and client and Certification in OPC UA standard
- System level architectural understanding - Conceptualizing product as a system involving HW, layered software architecture with software modules , their interactions along
- with HAL and OS( RTOS will be good to have) , and System design aspects - Considerations for modularity, optimization, memory, NFR and evolving a vision for the product
- Demonstrated competence in architecting embedded software products using C++ in a Windows environment
- Appreciation for different SW architectures, and applying them for different product scenarios
- Appreciation for formal design patterns and techniques and helping teams use them and Appreciation for Agile ways of SW development and testing, especially SAFe.
- Experience in tools like Azure DevOps, GitHUB, Windows debugging and Experience in identifying new tools and applying them to projects to improve quality and productivity
- Improving documentation - Good grasp of reviewing design and end user documentation, reviewing and improving them
