Bilfinger are currently recruiting for an HSE Manager for our West & South Regions. Leading the HSE team to ensure compliance with all regulations regarding the health and safety of people and the environment. To provide support and guidance to operational areas in accordance with the defined Company Management System requirements.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the HSE team in conjunction with creating a strong HSE culture within the company by:
  • Leading and developing corporate and project HSE plans that meet with company business objectives in conjunction with Operational Management
  • Developing the competence of personnel in health and safety through training and support
  • Managing and developing internal and external stakeholder relationships with regards to HSE matters
  • Disseminating experience and knowledge within operational work sites
  • To provide a focal point and ensure HSE support is provided to operational worksites, ensuring standards are maintained and best practice is applied
  • Co-ordinating team members to audit customer sites in a timely, effective manner
  • Engaging with and developing relationships with Customer HSE experts
  • Being an active and visible member of the team by spending time on Customer sites engaging in audit processes and interacting with site personnel
  • Working with Operational Management to enable them to take ownership and deliver HSE 'through the line'
  • Developing and facilitating HSE Governance to engage Operational Management in the development and deployment of HSE excellence
  • Identify and monitor issues, create new ideas and keep abreast of innovations in the industry to enable:
  • Improvements to the products and services
  • Delivery of exceptional health, safety and environmental performance
  • Analyse issues in relation to HSE and produce reports and annual plans in order to communicate the performance of the business. This should include:
  • Reactive performance monitoring i.e. number, type and frequency of incidents and near miss events
  • Proactive performance monitoring
  • Root cause analysis
  • Solutions & improvement actions


Routine Duties:
  • Monitor changes in legislation, Codes of Practice and Industry Standards, guidance and initiatives. Recommend appropriate changes to the Combined
  • Management System (CMS) and Improvement Programmes to ensure continued compliance and promote continuous improvement
  • Provide technical support to Operations to ensure all hazards associated with the Group or individual Company activities are identified, that risks to health,
  • safety and the environment are assessed and that suitable control measures are implemented, to reduce risks to as low as reasonably practicable
  • Ensure full compliance with the CMS and maintenance of certification requirements
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the accident/incident procedure and contribute to the investigation process to ensure root causes are established and appropriate
  • actions are identified and closed out
  • Manage the flow of HSE information to provide regular updates/ briefings to Management and Employees on new regulations, practices and initiatives
  • Give guidance and advice on matters relating to HSE systems and initiatives within Bilfinger UK
  • Conduct HSE audits onsite and within the Bilfinger UK offices
  • Assist in developing, promoting and monitoring compliance with HSE performance indicators
  • Develop and contribute towards the continual improvement of the HSE culture throughout the company
  • Produce and deliver HSE training
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of performance / compliance with Company annual HSE Improvement Plans
  • Develop HSE Initiatives
  • Ensure full compliance to certification requirements, Bilfinger UK procedures and Client procedures and specifications, as appropriate throughout the
  • Company to achieve better efficiency and optimise control
  • Ensure support and information related to HSE management and performance is effectively provided within Client tendering processes
  • In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the position holder is required to perform other duties as may arise in connection with the successful operation of Bilfinger UK or assigned by the HSE Director.

  • CDM Regulations Experience
  • Management System Standards
  • Industrial Services Sector and Offshore Industry
  • Improvement planning
  • NEBOSH diploma or equivalent
  • CMIOSH status
  • Degree Educated( preferable)
