This position is accountable for the following responsibilities:

• Ensuring the project is operating in accordance with the Saudi Arabian & NEOM environmental laws and regulations and all applicable NEOM Green Hydrogen Company environmental policies & procedures.
• Support the implementation of the NGHC Environmental Management Plan for during construction, commissioning and start-up phases.
• Support the implementation of the NGHC Internal and External Environmental Audit Plan, ensuring compliance to all applicable environmental regulations, Lender requirements, contractual requirements and the ESIA.
• Support the implementation of key NGHC Environmental Policies, Plans and Procedures such as the EHS Policy, E&S Policy, Biodiversity Management Plan, ESMS Manual, Chance Find Procedures, Biodiversity Action Plans, Cultural Heritage Management Framework, Biodiversity Monitoring & Evaluation Plans, etc.
• Provide technical assistance on specific environmental matters to all project scopes i.e., Green Hydrogen Elements, Power Elements and HIDC.
• Responsible for ensuring all project-related environmental risks are recorded on the Company Risk Register.
• Review of Contractor Construction & Social Environmental Management Plans (and other related plans and procedures) and commented on as necessary.
• Identifying sustainability risks and appropriate mitigation measures and highlighting any opportunities to increase the organisation’s sustainability credentials.
• Support the implementation of the Company ESG Policy through the development and implementation of quantitative and qualitative ESG performance indicators.
• Provide technical guidance to Project teams during planning, design development, tendering and construction supervision to enable achievement of Project sustainability and environmental goals and targets and Project permits.
• Monitoring of the Contractor and Subcontractor Environmental records and ESG monitoring data, where applicable.
• Attend Contractor 90 Day Lookahead HAZIDs to identify potential environmental and sustainability risks and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are proactively implemented.
• Ensure all Project environmental deliverables are completed within given timeframes.
• Company focal point during Lender Environmental & Social Audits, including the maintenance of action tracking register and coordination of Contractor and Subcontractor Lender deliverables.
• Develop an Environmental Legal Register (permit & consent matrix) and establish a systematic oversight program to assure compliance with all applicable environmental laws.
• Monitor the allocation of Contractor and Subcontractor resources to ensure that sufficient Environmental resources are assigned to maintain compliance with all applicable environmental requirements.
• Communicate improvement opportunities within the Contractors and Subcontractors execution of their respective Construction Environmental & Social Management Plans (CESMP’s) and other related environmental plans, policies and procedures.
• Ensures that Contractor implements and maintains a Waste Management Strategy aligned with Project, Lender and NEOM requirements.
• Oversight of Contractor Environmental Monitoring activities as defined within the respective ESIA’s and Environmental permits
• Oversight of Contractor and Subcontractor Fauna and Flora management
• Develop and deliver environmental training as required.
• Ensure protection of archaeological discoveries in accordance with IFC, World Bank, Company, ESIA, NEOM and other applicable requirements
• Ensuring specific environmental risk assessments and method statements for all work activities are reviewed and commented on where necessary, prior to commencement of works.
• Ensuring the Project Contractor and affected parties are directed in matters affecting emerging environmental risks.
• Oversight of Contractor and Subcontractor Water Management, including groundwater and wastewater discharge
• Monitoring Contractor and Subcontractor chemical management
• Support incident / accident investigations in line with the established site procedures for same and ensuring accurate content and corrective action follow up.
• Demonstrating a strong leadership commitment throughout the project
• Active participation in EHS promotional campaigns, competitions, initiatives, established programs, etc.
• Conducting environmental compliance inspections and Audit for all NGHC developments.
• Aid Environmental manager for preparing in monthly and quarterly environmental compliance report to Lenders.
• Develop and execute company sustainability initiatives and campaigns and track progress.
