Our client is seeking a Head of Engineering to support their entry into the Power-2X market. In this role, you will lead the engineering team in Vienna, which is the competence center for green hydrogen technology, plant engineering, and project execution.
The ideal candidate should be passionate and capable of managing a cross-disciplinary and multinational engineering team, should have a strong background in electrolysis processes paired with rich knowledge in engineering disciplines. Your extensive experience, coordination skills, and people management abilities will be crucial for the success of the projects.

This role will be based in Vienna, Austria.

In your role, you will:

  • Coordinate all engineering resources, functions, and tasks for standalone green hydrogen projects and green hydrogen adjacent to renewable fuels and CO2 capture projects.
  • Lead engineering disciplines in your local team, including project engineering management, process engineering, layout and piping engineering, Electrical-Instrumentation-Automation-Engineering, installation, and civil engineering.
  • Manage engineering processes over the total project lifetime.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the team of engineers in Vienna.
  • Schedule engineering tasks/resources and align with the overall project plan.
  • Clarify, discuss, and present technical solutions to the customer.
  • Serve as the escalation level for customers and suppliers regarding technical design topics.
  • Align required or requested modifications with internal product design experts.
  • Support engineering tasks according to your background.
  • Provide problem-solving and serve as the escalation level within the Engineering Teams.
  • Develop common rules of cooperation, tools, and procedures.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment to encourage creativity and problem-solving.
  • Set clear objectives and performance expectations for team members and provide regular feedback and coaching.
  • Report to the leader of the green hydrogen business and the global director of engineering of our P2X solutions.

In your personal skill set, you have:

  • Degree level qualification in a chemical, process, mechanical, or electrical engineering discipline.
  • Experience in electrolysis processes and engineering of electrolysis plants is a must.
  • Minimum ten years of experience in leading positions in engineering business.
  • General experience (at least 5 years) in leading cross-functional teams and driving improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to consult with customers and notified bodies about technical design requirements.
  • Experience performing acceptance tests and supervising installation and commissioning during start-up.
  • Proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams through effective coaching, mentorship, and talent development initiatives.
  • Proven ability to manage conflicts and resolve interpersonal issues within the team, promoting a harmonious and collaborative work environment.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think long-term and anticipate future challenges and opportunities.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Solution/team/customer-oriented with the confidence to act proactively.
  • Fluent in English. Another European language is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel for at least 5 days per month.
