If you are a highly organised person, with an eye for detail and experience of UK B2B energy regulation, this could be the role for you. You will play a key part in supporting Shell's B2B power and gas retailer in the UK (Shell Energy UK), part of Shell integrated power business, by co-ordinating important regulatory compliance activities and providing first line regulatory advice and guidance to all levels of the business.

Where you fit in

Energy retailers in the UK are subject to significant regulatory obligations, your role will be to support stakeholders across Shell Energy UK to navigate the current, and evolving, regulatory compliance environment.

You will also play a key role in helping Shell maintain a strong reputation with regulatory stakeholders. This will be achieved by co-ordinating and delivering regulatory compliance obligations such as Requests for Information (RFIs) from the UK Regulator (Ofgem) and undertaking compliance assurance reviews.

You will be part of the Power North-West team and become a key part of our SE (Shell Energy) and RES (Renewables & Energy Solutions) Regulatory Team, a team of regulatory experts who are passionate about:
  • delivering value for Shell by identifying key regulatory risks and mitigating strategies to protect Shell's existing and aspired commercial positions
  • developing opportunities to change existing regulations to enable business growth and
  • actively pursuing and delivering regulatory change by playing a thought leadership role in external regulatory processes to enable a sustainable and investable energy transition.

What's the role?

As a UK B2B Regulation & Compliance Advisor, you are going to:
  • Provide first line support to Shell Energy UK on day-to-day regulatory queries.
  • Monitor, review and co-ordinate relevant responses to the fast-paced industry small change ("industry mod") for the integrated power business and work with Subject Matter Experts to undertake advocacy as necessary.
  • Assist with reviewing and responding to wider regulatory change consultations and support with the implementation of necessary business change activity.
  • Co-ordinate meetings with relevant internal stakeholders to ensure successful two-way communication between teams and effective delivery.
  • Work with internal subject matter experts to co-ordinate high quality responses to regulatory Requests for Information (RfI) or external audits, and ensure all deadlines are achieved.
  • Undertake regulatory compliance assurance to pro-actively identify opportunities for Shell Energy UK to improve its regulatory compliance performance.

What we need from you

We are keen to hear from candidates with the following:
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and concurrent deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Foundational understanding of energy and ideally B2B retail energy regulation.
  • Degree level education in a relevant subject (e.g., law, economics, politics, etc.) We are also keen to hear from people with equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to work with internal stakeholders, including experience of co-ordinating internal discussions with peer group.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and succinct way.
  • Understand the importance of providing high quality compliance information
