Position: Mechanic - HVAC Licensed II

Pay Grade: MT-8

Duty Days: 240

Salary: $24.29 (minimum)

Qualifications:
  • Valid EPA Freon License
  • Trade degree in the HVAC field or State Contractor License, or minimum 5 years related commercial experience.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License

Duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Expedite emergency work on heating and air conditioning.
  • Assist in planning new construction projects.
  • Inspect new construction.
  • Perform necessary repairs on boilers, pumps, valves, chillers, compressors, air handlers, condensers, cooling towers, associated controls and accessories.
  • Repair or replace exhaust fans.
  • Initiate necessary electrical checks.
  • Perform welding, cutting and fabrication on equipment when necessary.
  • Initiate purchase of supplies for assigned equipment.
  • Assist in cataloging information on district HVAC equipment.
  • Perform test on all open and closed loops as needed and work with current water treatment vendor to insure proper operation of HVAC equipment.
  • Inspect, clean, lubricate and change belts and filters of assigned equipment.
  • Service refrigerators, coolers, freezers, water fountains and other assigned equipment. Perform preventative maintenance and emergency service.
  • Complete necessary work tickets on hours worked, job costs and associated information pertaining to work performed.
  • Maintain a Freon log.
  • Work with Direct Digital Control Operator in the troubleshooting and calibration of DDC
  • Perform all other duties assigned.
  • Report to the Maintenance Department's Coordinator of HVAC.

Work Conditions:
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Moderate irregular hours.
  • Works with frequent interruptions.
  • Preparation of materials may involve the packing, moving and lifting of equipment and supplies.
  • Work outside and inside; exposed to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes and odors. Exposure to mechanical, electrical and chemical hazards.
