The Nuclear Physics Group is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support its research programme exploring nuclear structure at the extremes of spin and isospin at facilities including ISOLDE. You will play a leading role in setting up and running in-beam spectroscopy experiments with MINIBALL and the Isolde Solenoidal Spectrometer (ISS) at ISOLDE, as well as analysing and interpreting the data. Your role will include leadership of future experiments by preparing new proposals, driving developments of experimental techniques and helping to supervise postgraduate students. You will also be expected to present the results of your work at collaboration meetings and international conferences. A willingness to travel and the ability to communicate effectively within large multinational collaborations are essential.

You will have a PhD in experimental nuclear physics or instrumentation.

If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
