About the role

We are looking for a Power System Manager to join our Customer Connections team based in our Head Office in Warwick. This is a hybrid role meaning you will split your time between home, office and different sites across the region.

As a Power System Manager you will be leading an engineering team to deliver excellent service across National Grid's customers and stakeholders. You will ensure that all relevant technical requirements are met and that all standards and investments are progressed, managed to cost and programme delivering an exceptional service.

You will Build strong relationships with external customers and other stakeholders to understand requirements and provide insight on our network and foster strong engagement with the Electricity System Operator (ESO) and other National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) teams to ensure that all network requirements are considered and utilise current industry frameworks.

What you'll be doing

  • Building strong relationships with external customers and other stakeholders (i.e. Distribution Network Operators) to understand their requirements
  • Foster strong engagement with the Electricity System Operator (ESO) and other National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) teams to ensure that all network requirements are considered and utilise current industry frameworks.
  • Ensure that power system analysis is undertaken to deliver an economic and efficient network, delivering overall compliance whilst seeking to outperform our regulatory framework and translate these into the work requirement
  • Manage a team of Power System Engineers, ensuring appropriate training and authorisation are obtained to ensure a competent team capable of delivering on behalf of our customers and stakeholders
  • Engage and manage relevant technical relationships, including with our customers and other stakeholders, providing insight into our network facilitating their respective business agendas and managing our overall obligations
  • Develop and share best practice across teams, ensuring consistency for our customers, improvements in design standardisation are realised and "whole network" solutions are understood both from a system and site-based solution
  • Provide direct engineering input into the development of our network and digital capabilities, seeking to maximise consumer benefit
  • Represent NGET on national working groups, seminars and conferences where appropriate, ensuring that National Grid's views and needs are well represented
  • Contribute to regional / national strategies and ensure that records are maintained of analysis

About you

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification and/or relevant experience in a related field is essential
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to ensure that network analysis is undertaken to deliver an economic and efficient network, delivering overall compliance whilst seeking to outperform our regulatory framework and translate these into the work requirement.
  • Experience of managing a team of power system engineers, ensuring appropriate authorisation are obtained to ensure a competent team capable of delivering on behalf of our customers.
  • Experience of engaging and managing relevant technical relationships, including with our customers and other stakeholders, providing insight into our network facilitating their respective business agendas and managing our overall obligations.
  • Experience of providing direct engineering input into the development of our network and digital capabilities, seeking to maximise consumer benefit.
