Duties & Responsibilities

Act as informed resource in support of operations to ensure compliance with national and international standards. Act as Level III in accordance with Oceaneering's written Practice and assist training manager in managing IMDS Training ensuring an overall strategy is put in place to train personnel and to meet the company's operational needs when required.

Functions

ESSENTIAL
  • Act as Oceaneering appointed LIII in accordance with Oceaneering Written Practice.
  • Ensure compliance with Oceaneering Written Practice
  • Review continuity of compliance of Training Department
  • Review existing Oceaneering NDT procedures against Standard updates
  • Write, review and approve Oceaneering NDT Procedures and Techniques
  • Represent Oceaneering at Technical NDT meetings
  • Schedule and implement internal audits of Oceaneering NDT Operations
  • Maintain an in depth understanding of NDT Processes
  • Participate in management review meetings
  • Lead investigations into any formal appeals received from Customers.
  • Travel to Sites, Offshore and overseas as required

Technical Manager 17020 Responsibilities

Key activities may include:
  • Ensuring compliance with BS EN ISO/IEC 17020.
  • Implementing and maintaining NDT related quality and technical systems and procedures.
  • Assisting Project Managers in the preparation of technical procedures.
  • Advising and assisting all levels of personnel in the implementation of Inspection Services technical procedures and techniques.
  • Ensuring relevant standards and codes are maintained by the Company.
  • Support recruitment of qualified and experienced personnel to ensure compliance with Oceaneering and Client Competence Assurance and Safety Management System requirements.
  • Providing a focal point for NDT employees to discuss matters relating to technical procedures and techniques, Company and Client polices/procedures.
  • Providing NDT training of personnel to allow them to gain initial or upgrade existing qualifications.
  • Liaising with the Quality department and Inspection Groups to co-ordinate external audits.
  • Carrying out both planned and random audits on projects being carried out including taking follow-up actions.
  • Monitoring and reviewing any impact of changes in standards and specification for continued delivery as required by the Director, IMDS - Europe/Country Manager, including taking follow-up actions.
  • Advising and assisting all levels of personnel in the application and effectiveness of both radiation and general safety practices and systems.
  • Providing a focal point for NDT employees to discuss matters relating to safety procedures and protocol.
  • Undertaking surveillance visits at project job sites to ensure compliance with statutory, Client and project specific requirements for all activities under the Company's control.
  • Responsible for appointing suitably occupationally competent deputy or deputies where required.
  • Lead investigations into any formal appeals received from Customers.
NON-ESSENTIAL
  • Review existing client NDT procedures against Standard updates
  • Write, review and approve client NDT Procedures and Techniques
  • Represent Oceaneering at NDT meetings held at client's premises
  • Represent clients as LIII Technical expert
  • Represent Oceaneering clients during external audit
  • Assist Operations as technical support during tenders
  • Investigate Customer complaints when required
  • Trial changes in NDT Procedures and Techniques.
  • Carry out training and competency checks.
  • Other duties as assigned

Ensure that the Safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to so far as is reasonably practicable in order to ensure a safe working environment.

Other
Carry out work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems.

Perform the assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems on the Company.

Eliminate waste of whatever form, to suggest the use of more environmentally friendly substances and practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position has NO direct supervisory responsibilities

Reporting Relationship
  • Reporting to the Operations Manager.
  • Functionally reporting to the Director, IMDS - Europe for 17020 responsibilities.
Qualifications

REQUIRED
  • Qualified to Level Ill either ASNT or ISO 9712 in at least 3 disciplines.
DESIRED
  • Previous experience in appointed LIII position
