What are you going to do

Engineering Design:

  • Manage and review engineering design deliverables to ensure compliance with project technical requirements and HSEQ standards.
  • Provide technical advice on transmission substation design and vendor packages, including switchrooms, HV switchgear, and power transformers.
  • Make informed decisions on primary substation design, requiring multidisciplinary knowledge.


Project Coordination:

  • Identify, prioritize, schedule, and coordinate engineering design and procurement activities to meet project milestones.
  • Lead the development of key project documentation, including scope of works, equipment specifications, technical datasheets, budgets, and schedules.
  • Manage external design consultants to ensure timely and efficient delivery of primary design deliverables.
  • Coordinate with the internal Design Team for timely and technically correct secondary design deliverables.


Vendor Management:

  • Review and interpret vendor-supplied deliverables to ensure constructability and integration with other packages.
  • Plan, scope, and award key vendor packages.
  • Lead the evaluation of RFP tenders, technical clarifications, and vendor selection.


Quality Control and Testing:

  • Provide technical advice and resolve issues by applying industry and regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Review vendor quality documentation, including ITPs, ITRs, technical procedures, and test reports.
  • Attend and witness factory and site acceptance testing for electrical equipment.
  • Support commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical systems.


Documentation and Reporting:

  • Analyze problems and issues to identify best practice solutions to meet project requirements.Ensure adherence to quality control procedures and appropriate documentation during project execution.


Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to undertake domestic or international travel for project requirements, including site travel.


Health, Safety & Environment:

  • Ensure actions or omissions do not adversely affect the environment or the health, safety, and well-being of colleagues, contractors, or others.
  • Comply with Health, Safety, and Environment Policies, participate in safety training, and utilize Personal Protective Equipment as required.


Essential skills and knowledge

  • 7 years’ experience in the mining or power industry.
  • Strong experience with primary and secondary electrical systems, including communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to autonomously produce project scopes, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with Australian Standards relating to electrical systems.
  • Experience with substations or transmission lines is highly regarded.
  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Good understanding of the balance between technical and commercial outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Standards (Electrical).
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Developed time management skills and ability to prioritize work.
  • Ability to work with diverse design and construction teams.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills.
