JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently seeking expressions of interest for a HSE Advisor for a regional Queensland project in Gladstone, Queensland with 3-5 years' experience in providing professional health, safety and environmental advice to the project.



The successful candidate will have previous HSE experience in heavy industry, minerals or Major Hazard Facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure duties are performed in line with both Wood's and client's HSE programs
  • Foster and maintain a collaborative, high-performing and client-oriented culture of safety and continuous improvement
  • Conduct in-field Safe Behaviour Observations including coaching of workers in HSE-initiatives and desired behaviours
  • Ensure compliance is followed and take initiative
  • Regular liaison with representatives of the Client and other contractors on site including participation in daily meetings to discuss HSE issues and performance
  • Assist in gathering data for incorporating in reports in accordance with Wood reporting requirements
  • Implement and monitor Wood's Safety Shield strategy that will assist in improving compliance and sustained performance
  • Monitor the efficiency of HSE programmes initiated by contractors
  • Monitor corrective actions from incidents and workplace inspections to ensure items are closed out within appropriate timeframe
  • Conduct and/or assist in hazard, accident/incident investigations, including near misses
  • Review contractors risk assessments and provide professional advice to ensure hazards are reduced
  • Commitment to zero harm by following Wood and Client HSE procedures and protocols


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous relevant experience within heavy industry, minerals or oil and gas processing industries
  • 3-5 years as HSE practitioner
  • Proven ability to influence and mentor others in HSE principles and behaviours
  • A good standard of written and high level of verbal communication skills including public speaking
  • Demonstrated experience conducting and development of effective Corrective Actions
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 Safety Management Systems preferred but not mandatory
  • Ability to analyse difficult problems and identify practical solutions for their resolution
  • Ability to work as part of a high performing team as well as individually
  • Certificate IV, Diploma or Tertiary Qualifications in WHS are required
  • Trade background and / or High-Risk Work Licences for EWP, Forklift and Rigger / Dogman will be well regarded
  • Basic computer and report writing skills, including use of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Nationally Recognised Training in Confined Space Entry and Working at Heights (desirable)
