ABOUT THE ROLE:

An opportunity has arisen for a one- year placement based on-site in our metallurgical laboratory in Derby.

The position will involve; but is not limited to:

• Processing samples in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including, cutting, grinding, polishing, etching & metallurgical assessment.
• Processing samples in line with SOP's, including, hardness testing, microscope work, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray Diffraction.
• Ensuring calibration standards are maintained
• Supporting booking in laboratory jobs and maintaining the laboratory logbook.

The placement will be based in Derby where the site offers great transport links to Derby, Nottingham and the surrounding areas.

ABOUT YOU:

• Good IT literacy skills
• Enthusiasm to learn new skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Ability to work as an individual or part of a team
• Some metallurgical experience would be beneficial
