About the job:
The successful candidate will prepare design drawings and assist with the modification / revamps of existing petrochemical, refining and light industrial facilities. Skills and Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the successful candidate will be as follows:
  • Organizing work to meet priorities.
  • Review drawings and designs to control quality and accuracy. using 2D and 3D design tools.
  • Producing highly advanced and complex designs.
  • Discussing special problems with project team and recommending changes as required.
  • Keeping up to date on new design processes and drafting techniques.
  • Developing and recommending improvements in design standards to lower costs, improve work quality and facilitate maintenance.
  • Carry out site surveys to gather detail information for design needs.
  • Manage schedules, budgets and scope changes throughout project duration.
  • Prepare and drive 3D model reviews and interface with client representatives

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
  • Technical college graduation (ie Mechanical Engineering Technician/ Technologist) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 15 years piping design and layout experience, preferably in the petrochemical industry.
  • Advanced ability with 2D AutoCAD and multiple data driven 3D computer applications for piping design e.g.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes in technology.
  • Ability to integrate new technologies into daily work processes.
  • Direct experience working with client and industry specifications and standards.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing, process, maintenance, and construction methods.
  • Relative site experience preferred.
  • Brownfield and Greenfield Experience is beneficial
  • Use of and manipulation of laser scans is beneficial
  • Willing to mentor and direct Junior & Intermediate designers
  • Previous hands-on experience using E3D is an advantage


Communication:
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal & written
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate workflow with High Value Centers (HVEC).
