ABOUT YOU

Working as a Technician in a water microbiology testing laboratory you will be working as part of a small, dedicated team ensuring the safety of all types of water for the end user. You will have the opportunity to assist in ensuring the microbiological safety of the water that comes into the lab for testing. You will be trained and guided to fulfil your potential in this important role.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

This role will be an important part of the microbiology team which provides analytical services across all aspects of water use and supply. In this position you will be mentored by experienced staff who will fully train you across all aspects of the laboratory process from the receipt and registration of samples through to the processing of samples to the final identification of bacteria,,, imparting their knowledge to ensure your progression. The role also involves participation in quality and health and safety training as well as contributing to internal and external quality proficiency schemes.

• Registration of samples
• Plating and pouring samples onto Petri-dishes.
• Filtration of samples
• Sample incubation times and temperatures
• Plate reading.
• Colony identification and confirmation
• Routine cleaning of stations

The laboratory position covers shifts Tuesday to Friday 2pm to 10pm and Saturday 11am to 7pm.
