Imagine a future where you're supporting new offshore wind farms and increasing revenue through innovative cable engineering solutions

Join us in this role where you'll be overseeing the thermal and burial design of subsea cables, incl. cable burial risk assessments and cable rating assessments. In your role, you'll support and determine optimal cable routes through assessment of seabed morphology and geological and environmental conditions. You'll take part in defining the installation methodology, considering factors such as water depth, seabed conditions, and burial requirements. You'll work across engineering disciplines to ensure ground-based risks are consolidated and translated into tangible mitigations/solutions for projects.

Welcome to Geoscience & Geotechnics
You'll be part of Seabed Interface Design where you, together with your colleagues, will deliver cable-based engineering solutions to projects located across the globe. You'll join a team of 25 talented engineers whose field of expertise is geotechnical engineering, scour protection design and seabed mobility assessments. Your focus will be developing engineering solutions for the design and installation of onshore and offshore cable routes. As a team, we thrive on open communication, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning. We foster a collaborative environment where diverse perspectives are valued and everyone contributes to team and project success. We invest in professional development, encourage cross-functional collaboration, and celebrate achievements together.

You'll play an important role in:
  • providing senior level expertise and mentorship to the engineering team, challenging the status-quo with innovative thinking
  • developing cross-team interface agreements to ensure streamlined processes to support our asset projects
  • contributing to the development of new cable design tools/software and leading the engineering deliverables for projects to support the design and installation
  • building relationships with industry partners and academic institutions
  • synthesising multiple geoscience datasets and understanding how ground-based risks impact technical and commercial solutions.

To succeed in the role, you:
  • hold a master's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering
  • have in-depth understanding of soil properties, ground-based risk and their impact on cable burial depths, thermal rating, and installation methods
  • are proficient in numerical modelling and development of geotechnical tools for analysis and design
  • have significant proven work experience in offshore power cable installation / design projects, preferably with offshore experience
  • are an excellent team player and a good communicator in multi-disciplinary engineering teams with solid commercial awareness
  • have strong technical leadership skills.

Maybe you've read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don't quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
