Pay
This position is a Temporary position at pay grade 103.
Attendance
Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Sunday; must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview
The Utility Technicians are responsible for the maintenance and operation of the water distribution system and wastewater collection system. Employees must remain in compliance with TCEQ and other applicable laws and regulations while working within the scope of their position.
Responsibilities
• Work with a crew to install, repair, and maintain water mains, valves, and fire hydrants; repair and maintain wastewater gravity and force mains, manholes, and services
• Operate hand tools, water pumps, and power saws
• Set up traffic control devices
• Perform confined space work
• Demonstrate work site safety and trench safety
• Provide customer service while performing responsibilities
• Work with a crew to perform wastewater system maintenance and cleaning
• Install meters at residential service connections
• Install, program, and maintain AMR components
• Perform water service turn-off and turn-on duties for residential, commercial and industrial customers
• Investigate and mitigate issues reported on the water distribution and wastewater collection systems
• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Requires a High School Diploma/GED
• No experience required
• TCEQ Class D Water License or Class I Wastewater Collection License within one year of hire
• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.

• Selected applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment drug test.
• Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.
• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.
