JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is recruiting Welder - Offshore, an exciting & challenging role on the BSP Offshore Rejuvenation project.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Read, understand and implement all applicable company / project policies, working practices and procedures, ensuring at all times that the welding work scope is completed safely and to a high standard
  • All types of Structural welding
  • All types of process pipework and fittings with grades of steel varying from API 5L Grade B through to API 5L X65 inclusive
  • In accordance with ASME 1X for TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding procedure. The test must be carried out in the 6G positions
  • Shall be familiar with company specification and AWS D1.1 and have passed a 6GR welding test in accordance with company procedures. He must be proficient at TKY welded connections
  • To be familiar with the full range of piping fittings used in the oil industry and the various techniques required to weld them. Must be aware of the piping pressure classification used
  • Responsible for tacking up, preheating (if required) and welding out full joint. For complex fits up he will have pipe lifter to assist him. Shall carry / pull his own welding and cutting leads, electrodes and tools to the workplace. Shall be solely responsible for their welding construction equipment and tools on a platform at all times. Required to keep work area clean and clear at all times, between changing work sites at the end of shifts
  • Complete all work scope in accordance with applicable work pack / job card instructions, associated procedures and drawings / sketches
  • Provide support to other trades / disciplines where required, or form part of an integrated multi - discipline team
  • Undertake appropriate Risk Assessments (RA) in order to complete work scope in a safe and controlled manner

Essential:

  • Recognized Welding apprenticeship or demonstrable experience in Welding role

  • IMIST / MIST


Desirable:

  • Manual Handling
  • I.S.S.O.W / Permit Vision Level 1
  • Wood mandatory training, induction, risk awareness, etc.


Experience

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience post welding apprenticeship / training coupled with current relative experience
  • 5 years' experience as a certified welder of which 2 years have been spent offshore


Desirable:

  • Preferably a Bruneian
  • Personal qualities, aptitudes and skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members
  • Demonstrate commitment to working safely at all times
  • Flexible - able to comply with company and client requirements
  • Ability to work with other team members / disciplines and in a multi - cultural environment
  • Confident and with an ability to work unsupervised and work on own initiative
  • Has a desire to learn and develop within the role and also develop others as part of nationalization programmed
  • Competencies - generic
  • Possesses a decent standard in spoken and written English
  • Comply with operational and safety manuals and procedures
  • Possesses a good understanding of safe working practices and can demonstrate commitment to safe working at all times
  • Competencies - technical
  • Can demonstrate a high standard in completion of tasks associated with the role of Welder as defined in associated job specification
  • Competent, efficient and experienced in welding and cutting techniques and be familiar with all relevant procedures essential to their application under field or offshore conditions
  • Can demonstrate the ability to read / understand and implement procedures / specifications / drawings / sketches / etc.
