Job Description Summary

The GE Wales Site Quality Leader will be responsible for maintaining the high standards of product safety, quality and compliance that the GE Aerospace business holds itself to, and accordingly the position will be a nominated position that requires regulatory concurrence.

The successful candidate will oversee the site and business, tactical and strategic quality objectives, in line with GE Aerospace goals and priorities.

Job Description

The GE Wales Site Quality Leader will be responsible for maintaining the high standards of product safety, quality and compliance that set by the GE Aerospace business. This is a nominated position that requires regulatory concurrence.

The successful candidate will oversee the site and business, tactical and strategic quality objectives, in line with the goals and priorities set out by GE Aerospace.

Amongst other duties, these will include:
  • Investigation of customer queries and guidance on corrective actions
  • Assure compliance to national and international regulatory requirements
  • Drive proactive continuous improvement through the analysis of performance data and in line with the network Safety Management System (SMS) objectives and plans.


Essential Responsibilities

Strategic
  • Owner of Zero-Defect Culture and Proactive Quality for Wales MRO operations.
  • Collaborate with senior business leadership on breakthrough objectives and top-level improvement priorities.
  • Support the Lean Transformation in Wales MRO Quality operations, providing subject matter expertise on methods and tools such as Problem Solving and SMS methodology.
  • Partner with customer teams and directly with customers on quality improvements to enhance the customer experience.
  • Drive advanced quality tool maturation in the Wales MRO operations.


Organisational
  • Reporting to the site accountable manager and global Quality Leader, on relevant aspects of the company audit program through the Quality Management System (QMS) and the Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Lead an experienced team of quality professionals.
  • Work closely with horizontal and vertical teams in the business across the globe.
  • Provide continuous coaching and mentoring to the quality and other business teams.


Operational
  • Assure performance to Key Performance Indicators in delivered and process quality.
  • Maintain strong regulatory and quality system compliance.
  • Control and execution of the company internal and external audit programs.
  • Maintenance of company held Regulatory Agency/National Aviation Authority (NAA) approvals and the associated Maintenance Organisation Expositions (MOE)/Supplements.
  • Oversight of the supplier quality system, and materials purchasing and contracting support.
  • Oversight and maintenance of the work away from site privilege (as required).
  • Procedural and regulatory oversight of the certifying process and associated qualifications and approvals of company personnel holding "Certifying Staff" authorisations.
  • Controllership, approval and maintenance of the site company policies and procedure structure.


Qualifications / Requirements
  • A relevant engineering or technical degree or an aircraft technician or maintenance engineer qualification and additional education.
  • Demonstrated experience within aerospace and maintenance, engineering, or manufacturing.
  • Previous experience in aerospace MRO organisations and comprehensive knowledge of Part 145 regulation and the MOE.
  • A good understanding of safety management systems and compliance monitoring including quality management system structures, policies and frameworks.
  • Proficient in safety training (including Human Factors) and Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS).
  • Demonstrable evidence of managing product safety related issues/escapes and investigation practices such as: hazard identification, risk assessment, containment, root cause identification, permanent preventative action and auditing methods.
  • Knowledge and experience of the CAA/EASA/FAA and other NAA regulatory environments and compliance.
  • Experience in leading teams.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and respectfully with the teams to identify systemic quality improvements within the organization and develop robust defenses including through Product Safety Review Boards (PSRBs).
  • Ability to travel - 20% (domestic and international).
  • An open and humble approach, and the ability to foster productive working relationships and provide clear support and guidance where complex regulatory and policy specialities apply to staff duties and business needs is essential.
  • A keen eye for detail, compliance and standards.
