As a R&D Chemist / Chemical Engineer, you will be proving and validating the viability of technologies from their conception to first deployment through the application of scientific and engineering methodologies. You will take ownership of research and development projects for novel solutions to existing and new challenges in Oil and Gas and Geothermal operations. You will demonstrate through test or analyses the performance and implementation potential of a concept.

As an R&D Chemist / Chemical Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting research and experiments to analyze data and test hypotheses to gain an understanding of products and processes

  • Applying sophisticated scientific understanding to research or development problems to provide inventive solutions toward new development efforts

  • Collaborating with research and manufacturing functions throughout product development cycle projects to ensure successful project delivery

  • Communicating research results to stakeholders through reports and presentations

  • Creating and protecting intellectual property for our company to ensure ownership of our products and designs

  • Working in R&D, product modification, product scale-up, and chemistry troubleshooting

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or other scientific/petroleum degree or 5 years' experience working in the Drilling & Completions Fluids industry
  • 3+ years' experience testing and formulating Drilling & Completion Fluids
  • 2+ years' experience working in a Lab
  • Have a strong foundation of laboratory skills and safety
  • Ability to develop new test methods for in-depth product characterization
  • Show a solid understanding of chemical structure-property relationships
  • Be able to show excellent problem-solving, process improvement and analytical skills
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of project management
  • You must be able to regularly lift and stand for an extended amount of time/frequently lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds
  • Have excellent written and verbal English skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Be able to travel to visit customers or Baker Hughes locations 10%
