Atwell is seeking high potential candidates to join our growing design team. The CAD Drafter/Draftsperson intern is a position at Atwell from which a solid foundation for a career in process equipment/piping design and facility design may be established. Beyond design skills we are looking for motivated self-starters who want to become part of a team where creativity, collaboration, and excellence is celebrated.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Successful candidate is proficient in a broad range of piping design tasks and suites related to oil and gas transportation and processing facilities and can exhibit the capability to:
  • Prepare Process Flow and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams in accordance with industry standards.
  • Ability to generate design documents from three-dimensional models and the ability to create piping and equipment models utilizing CadWorx.
  • Ability to read and develop documents including, but not limited to plot plans, piping plans, sections, and details, equipment models, and piping isometric drawings and be responsible for the quality of the developed work product.
  • Capable of reading, understanding, and integrating customer piping specifications into CadWorx Spec Editor software.
  • Ability to conduct facility/field assessments and gather data required to produce as-built documentation.
  • Interface as necessary with in-house engineering, project management, drafting, purchasing, as well as outside consultants, inspection, and operations personnel.
  • Prepare documents to a level consistent with company and/or client set quality standards while maintaining project schedules.
  • Checks basic layouts, designs and general arrangements of other designers and drafters for accuracy and compliance with code and company/client standards.
  • Participate in internal and external project meetings to develop project requirements, define delivery schedules, review design, and report progress.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/COMPENTENCIES:
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and CadWorx required (AutoCAD Plant 3D a plus)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Ability to read architectural/civil drawings, and piping instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment layouts, and piping plans
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and meet established deadlines
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work under minimum supervision
  • Possess problem solving and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess a positive, "can-do" attitude
  • A team player willing to collaborate with team members

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Background in P&IDs
  • Demonstrated ability to use 2D and 3D CAD systems to develop design deliverables.
  • 1+ years relevant experience in design for oil and gas related projects.
  • Must be able to coordinate effectively with a wide range of technical, analytical and managerial personnel and operate with minimal direction.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Associates degree, Technical Certificate(s) or equivalent experience (2 years minimum) in a computer-aided drafting and design setting, will be considered

Must be willing to travel to job sites from time to time in order to gather required data and meet with clients and construction personnel to provide discipline specific support as necessary.
