Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to set up and execute routine tests for different products in accordance with standard testing methodologies and requirements. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring proper documentation of the test results. You will be mainly accountable for: • Supporting in the planning and implementation of test plans. • Coordinating maintenance activities related to the equipment and tools used in the laboratory. • Identifying and suggesting solutions related to product non-conformities. • Assisting external certification inspectors during testing activities for ABB or external customer products. Based in Ede, you will work under the Smart Buildings business line within the Global Product Group Energy Distribution. As an R&D Testing & Lab Specialist, you are attached to the research & development centre in the Netherlands. This is set up to develop new and innovative products. You exchange information - remotely - with ABB colleagues worldwide. ABB has several R&D centres, including in Belgium, Germany, Egypt and Italy. Your team ABB's R&D Centre has 17 colleagues spread over two locations. 15 colleagues are working in Ede. The team is very diverse in terms of age and personality and that is the strength of the group; we stimulate each other in every possible way. It is an open department where it is easy to knock on someone else's door if you need help. Your tasks in this role will include: • Participates as a team member and supports execution of routine tests and feasibility tests for product development projects. • Support planning and the implementing test plans, assigning the right priority and overseeing the allocated resources. • Supports the maintenance activities related to the equipment and tools used by the laboratory • Proposing improvements to test techniques based on experience and knowledge of trends and equipment • Assisting external certification inspectors during testing activities for ABB products and external customer products. • Ensuring that prototypes are correctly assembled, tests are correctly performed, and activities are thoroughly reported .

Qualifications for the role
- At least 1 year of experience in test engineering, working as test engineer or assistance with mechanical and/or electrical products (no electronics or software testing).
- Capability to read and interpreter standards, regulations and test plans.
- A collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills.
- An MBO level 4 degree (vocational college) in electrical engineering / mechanical engineering or similar.
- Dutch and English language is required.
- Possession of a NEN3140 certification is an advantage.
