Job Description

The Wastewater Maintenance Supervisor I / II will lead a team, overseeing preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on wastewater facilities. Proficient in advanced troubleshooting of pump, mechanical, and electrical controls, the supervisor will compile and analyze reports for efficient operations. Responsibilities include managing two wastewater treatment plants (Dallas Salmon WWTP-12MGD and Southwest Water Reclamation Facility-4MGD) and 76 lift stations, serving 30,000 sewer connections and a population exceeding 100,000. This is a safety-sensitive and/or DOT position. Therefore, participation in random drug testing at the city will be mandatory.

Wastewater Maintenance Supervisor I

  • Schedule and prioritize daily job assignments for subordinate personnel.
  • Identify repairs and order materials for repair/replacement of equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, identify, and preform proper repairs on electrical, mechanical, level control, and pumping systems associated with treatment pumping facilities and collection water system equipment.
  • Support contractors/other departments during design and construction of Wastewater infrastructure
  • Compile information from daily logs and activities to determine proper operation of lift stations to meet state requirements.
  • Review plans and recommend applicable changes for Wastewater lift station upgrades or new development and other duties as assigned.
  • Assist in budget development.
  • Maintain work order system and other applicable software.
  • Subject to afterhours and weekend callouts.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Wastewater Maintenance Supervisor II

  • Performs all duties of the Wastewater Maintenance Supervisor I
  • Capable of working under limited or moderate supervision while performing complex tasks.
  • Provides second level of supervision for the Wastewater Department in the absence of the Superintendent.
  • Must pass all proficiency requirements.

Must be able to provide services for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations that threaten the safety of League City's citizens, and that, City employees must be able to work immediately before, during, or immediately after an emergency.
Minimum Qualifications

Required

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Valid Driver's License

Wastewater Maintenance Supervisor I
Must meet all required minimum qualifications in addition to the following:

  • 4+ yr. exp. in industrial/commercial mechanical and electrical maintenance
  • Class B Wastewater Operator or Class III Wastewater Collections
  • NCCER Electrical 1 Certificate or Equal
  • Obtain Class D Water Operator license (external within 18 months of hire date) (internal 12 months)

Wastewater Maintenance Supervisor II
Must meet all required minimum qualifications in addition to the following:

  • 5+ yr. exp. in industrial/commercial mechanical and electrical maintenance
  • Class B Wastewater Operator or Class III Wastewater Collections
  • NCCER Electrical 1 & 2 Certificate or Equal
  • Class D Water Operator license

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience that offer the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position may be substituted or assessed at the City's discretion.
Supplemental Information

Knowledge of:

  • Pump operation and hydraulic troubleshooting
  • Proficient understanding of industrial electrical controls, program logic controllers, ability to interpret electrical schematics.

Skill in:

  • Maintenance of pumps and motors, including troubleshooting and repairing various wastewater equipment and building facilities.
  • Utilization of CMMS, Work order systems, and other maintenance software.

Ability to:

  • Apply appropriate tools and equipment for mechanical and electrical repairs to wastewater equipment and building facilities.
  • Adhere to procedures for proper maintenance, management and record-keeping.
  • Review construction plans and propose relevant changes
  • Communicate effectively and prioritize a scheduled workload.
  • Thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Adhere to on-call schedules as a first responders.
