OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

The Fabrication Department Manager oversees the Fabrication Discipline within GPC West (GPCW). you will ensure coordination and consistency for the delivery of fabrication activities across GPCW tenders and projects.

You will be responsible for implementing a change agenda to ensure the department is delivery oriented, creating a mindset of performance in collaboration with other EPCI functions.

This is a high visibility role and to support the growth and the scale and complexity of future fabrication scopes for the energy transition.

The Fabrication Department Manager is also responsible to develop the GPCW Fabrication community to provide added value support to the project and tenders.

Key Responsibilities & Activities
  • Develops and fosters a positive HSEQ culture throughout Subsea 7.
  • Ensures the Subsea 7 Safe System of work and GPCW processes, such as readiness reviews and self-verification, are fully implemented on GPCW and suppliers worksites to enable safe performance.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to the GPCW Fabrication community to ensure standardization of operational practices, continuous improvement and predictable performance.
  • Ensures the implementation of and adherence to Subsea 7's Management systems, professional tools, policies, and processes.
  • Reviews, organizes and influences the Fabrication department to effectively handle and deliver multiple large and complex Fabrication Projects, in particular:

1) Introduces and embeds delivery accountability within the team for projects growth

2) Ensures a breadth of relevant expertise is present within the team for consistent and consistent support to Fabrication across the various tenders and projects

3) Promotes and fosters proactive engagement with the other disciplines across the project life cycle to ensure the correct delivery of Fabrication scopes.
  • Supports Fabrication Managers as required in the delivery of Fabrication scopes on projects and tenders
  • Constitutes an integral part of the tender process and ensures peer reviews are conducted on Fabrication deliverables prior to tender costing/submission to make sure you are consistent with inputs from other disciplines.
  • Proposes fabrication strategies to fulfil tenders and projects requirements
  • Works closely with the SCM function to develop a strategy of fabrication suppliers, including supplier assessments and physical audits.
  • Works closely with the Engineering function to ensure constructability of design is guaranteed and that engineering deliverables for Fabrication are timely delivered
  • Manages and motivates the fabrication team across several locations. Reviews and assesses performance through the COMPASS process, building capacity and enabling employees to optimize their contribution to the Fabrication team and the wider business.
  • In continuous liaison with regions, allocates resources to tenders and projects as required
  • Establishes KPIs to monitor GPCW Fabrication performance - Develops and monitors how we measure projects growth and the impacts on predictable performance.
  • Provides input to budget and is accountable for controlling costs and meeting budget within department.
  • Reviews and updates GPCW Fabrication Guidelines documents
  • Develops and implements Fabrication digitalization initiatives
  • Ensures GPCW Fabrication Sharepoint site is kept up to date

PERSON SPECIFICATION/EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL
  • Degree level relevant engineering and technical background
  • Experience working in a project environment
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external functions and business partners
  • Proven ability to work and motivate diverse teams and drive convergence

PREFERRED
  • Ideally previous experience in a Project Management role or similar
  • Previous functional management experience
  • Fabrication experience
