Your role and responsibilities

Reporting to the Quality Director, the Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality and deployment of the quality strategy throughout the organization. This includes fostering a quality culture, managing systems, tools, and competent teams. The goal is to meet and exceed customer expectations while ensuring sustainable operations. The engineer helps the organization find the right combination of prevention, continuous improvement, robust root cause analysis, quick intervention, and sustainable solutions to problems. They collaborate with local functions that impact quality outcomes to meet organizational goals and aim for world-class performance. This role is contributing to the Electrification, Smart Building division of ABB and is located in Dorval. The work model is Hybrid with one day per week from home. Responsibilities: • Support the deployment of strategy and objectives for quality management within the local ABB organizational unit. • Collaborate with the management team in the local ABB unit to innovatively shape the design and development of their functional area. • Support management regarding content, tools, and systems related to quality management. • Continuously help identify and address risks and opportunities related to quality management. • Conduct audits to assess compliance with the defined system. • Use organizational quality data analysis to identify risks, failures, and non-compliances. • Promote the vision of zero defects and support local teams to ensure that ABB, customer, and stakeholder requirements are met, focusing on prevention rather than control only. • Perform and/or coordinate activities related to designated areas within quality, including customer and claim management, manufacturing quality, quality planning, product safety and compliance, design and development quality, audits, and reporting. • Advocate for the voice of the customer and ensure that risks, issues, and solutions are evaluated from the customer/stakeholder perspective. • Support the resolution of cases from both internal and external customers by conducting robust root cause analysis and implementing preventive and corrective actions (CAPA). • Support and maintain the local unit's quality management system, including processes and tools to ensure flawless and reproducible process execution, identifying gaps, and exploring improvement opportunities. • Use the local quality management system to provide teams with procedures that enable sustainable execution. • Lead local teams in the implementation of an operational approach and process management system, continually evaluating its effectiveness. • Support the organization by creating training materials and delivering training on content related to the quality management system. • Coordinate and participate in benchmarking activities within the industry, both inside and outside ABB, to continuously challenge the status quo and further develop the organization's self-perception. • Support initiatives aimed at improving agreed aspects of quality.

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • French & English. English is necessary to communicate with clients outside of Quebec.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems or lighting would be an asset
