The Advisor, Communications Excellence will develop and enforce standardized processes and workflows to streamline and enhance efficiency across Communications & Public Affairs (C&PA) as part of the C&PA Center of Excellence (CoE)and will stay connected with industry trends, best practices, and tools to further create efficiency. The advisor will coordinate the publishing of content to support our overall communications and ensure compliance with brand guidelines. The advisor will keep the C&PA team organized and ensure visibility across the organization by maintaining Teams sites, Intranet site, shared drive, etc. as well as managing the corporate approvals process and proper documentation of approvals.

Responsibilities May Include:
  • Establish and maintain quality standards for all corporate communications materials to ensure compliance with brand guidelines and messaging consistency.
  • Manage the Corporate Approvals process for internal and external communications.
  • Manage the overall corporate calendar to ensure alignment across the teams.
  • Assist in creating high-quality, engaging content for various internal and external channels.
  • Post/publish content both internally and externally in alignment with the company's overall communications strategy. Be the primary publisher of Houston Communications.
  • Maintain collaboration tools, reference resources, and access to distribution lists/send accounts and permissions for C&PA including Teams sites, C&PA intranet site, executive leader/board of director bios, subscriptions, and trade association memberships, etc.
  • Create and maintain intake process for thought leadership opportunities and manage review schedule.
  • Research, identify, and make available professional development opportunities and skill-building for C&PA team members.
  • Conduct training on comms processes & tools for C&PA.
  • Monitor and analyze communications trends and peer company content to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Combine all metrics from CoE and provide regular reports/dashboards to senior leadership on the performance and impact of communications efforts.

Required Qualifications:
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country on a permanent basis without restrictions
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3 or more years of proven experience with project management, traffic management, or agency account management
  • Exceptionally organized and able to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to travel as required up to 20%

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, English or Literature, Digital Media or Multimedia and/or Business Administration
  • Experience working in Communications or Public Affairs functions or other high-paced organizations that balance many projects and work with a variety of internal and external constituencies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail and high quality
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective collaborative working relationships with internal and external personnel at all levels, and from a variety of disciplines
  • Strong attention to detail and process-driven approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions; a team player who builds relations and leverages relationships to advance communications initiatives
  • Proficiency with prompt engineering for effective use of AI tools.
  • Proficiency with graphic design and presentation building
  • Creative and strategic thinker with experience developing, executing, and measuring strategic communications programs and campaigns
  • Ability to analyze metrics and make data-driven recommendations for improvement
  • Ability to work with wide latitude for independent judgment and personal responsibility for project success
